Hernia w/sever pain by umbilical repair w/mesh. Also just hospitalized for unknown intestinal bleeding. Colonoscopy in 6 days. Related to each other?
Postop complications: I cannot answer for sure as it depends on what they actually did during surgery. Potentially the two can be related as either due to postop complication (intestinal injury) or sometimes hernias could be due to Meckel's diverticulum (a pouch coming off the small intestine) that sometimes leads to intussusception and bleeding. Colonoscopy might help determine if there is a large bowel cause. ...Read more

More info: Many things can cause anemia. Losing blood or not producing blood. The scopes ruled out obvious causes. But the small intestine is not seen with those scopes. It is also possible that your bleeding is intermittent and was not active at the time of the scope. There are additional tests such as bleeding scans, capsule endoscopy which may help. If no GI source identified see hematologist ...Read more

I had a diagnostic colonoscopy done due to bleeding and they found 2 ulcers in my intestines . Biopsies came back good what is the cause and treatment?
NSAID, etc.: The most common reason for ulcers in the intestines is from nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (nsaids, ibuprofen, naproxen, et.). Other possibilities include crohn's disease, or many other possibilities, including infections. If this is NSAID induced, the treatment is avoidance of nsaids. If this is infection, it will resolve. But if it's crohn's, you need specific medical therapy. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Had a colonoscopy d/t rectal bleeding dr said bleeding was from BP meds I take at night I had ulcers on the descending colon .whats the solution?
I disagree: I am unaware of any BP med that would cause colonic ulceration. You CAN see that with non-steroidals like ASA, motrin etc. Were the ulcers biopsied? That can be a sign of Crohns disease. Where were the ulcers? if very low in the rectum can be from chronic constipation. How old are you? ...Read more

Small bowel and anus: When a work up involves an EGD and colonoscopy, it misses the small intestines - a capsule endoscopy or bleeding scan would be needed to assess bleeding sites in the small intestines. As well, a colonoscopy may miss the otherwise obvious hemorrhoids or anal fissures which could bleed from the anus. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Neg colonoscopy 9 mon ago. Diagnosed ibs. Recent bleeding from anus and positive fobt. Im 25 what now?
See CR Surgeon: Anal bleeding in a young person with a normal colonoscopy will most likely be from either internal hemorrhoids or an anal fissure. You would most likely have pain with bowel movements with the latter. Try taking a fiber supplement for a couple weeks. If you still bleed, see a colorectal surgeon. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Heavy rectal bleeding for almost 3 weeks 3-4 x a day. Colonoscopy 10/28/13 no polyps etc. Any idea? I'm beyond worried
You are young: It is hard to imagine what could be bleeding in your colon, at your age and not seen by colonoscopy. The only thing i could think of is av malformation since they can't be seen once decompressed from bleeding. You have to discuss it further with your doctor and your gastroenterologist as to what it could be. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Had colonoscopy 24hrs ago was normal. Notice slight pain below belt buckle once inwhile. No bm since test. Should I be worried? No fever or bleeding.
No worry: During and before colonoscopy the bowel is cleaned out so that BM since the procedure would be unusual. Would a doctor do a colonoscopy or something like that on a 16 year old girl with consistant rectal pain and bleeding?
Unlikely: Most bleeding in a 16 yr old with rectal pain would be due to a fissure, a simple office exam would make this diagnosis, if not the next step would be a flexible sigmoidoscopy. More worrisome conditions such as ulcerative colites or inheretic form of colon cancer (fap), would be diagnosed on flexible sigmoidoscopy. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
