I had a rad hysterectomy and radiation in 1998. Last year a colonoscopy and endoscope, all clear. Have ibs. What could be the reason for the lower right quadrant of my abdomen being distended.
Many things: It is reassuring that the scopes were normal. The surgery can cause scar tissue called adhesions. Ibs can also cause accumulation of gas. The surgery can cause some weakness of the abdominal muscles. As long as the tests (ct scans, etc) are normal, i would recommend trials of diet changes and probiotics and exercise. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Usually not but...: Colonoscopies are routine screening procedures for older americans, to look for colon cancer. Usually, there are no after effects, so a person feels fine afterwards. Chronic pelvic pain on left side over 1 year. Had 2 CT scans, colonoscopy, ultra sounds. All ok. Found a fibroid in same pain location, had hysterectomy 5 weeks ago. Pain still there. Any other ideas?
Could be normal : Postop incisional pain which sometimes may take upto 6-8 weks to go away. I would check for signs of infection such as redness around the incision, or any drainage. If your pain is deep inside tand associated with fevers then u may need an imaging study to rule out any post op abscess. Follow up with your surgeon and he/she will guide you. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I had a colonoscopy and pelvic CT 6 months ago for IBS , all clear. Would these tests have detected anal cancer? I have hx of genital low risk HPV.
Very unlikely: These tests would not be likely to detect anal cancer. If you have a bump on or near your anus, pain, or anal bleeding, see a doctor. Without those, the chance of anal cancer is near zero if you have not been anally penetrated by another man. Anal cancer is quite rare in males, with only about 3,000 cases per year in the US, mostly in gay men. But ask your MD for exam if still uncertain. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
