Probobly not: If colon cancer was Stage one and that portion of the bowel was resected then the likelihood of recurrence is low. That said you still need to continue surveillance per your oncologist recommendations as you are at increased risk.. ...Read more

I had a rad hysterectomy and radiation in 1998. Last year a colonoscopy and endoscope, all clear. Have ibs. What could be the reason for the lower right quadrant of my abdomen being distended.

I had a rad hysterectomy and radiation in 1998.  Last year a colonoscopy and endoscope, all clear.  Have ibs.  What could be the reason for the lower right quadrant of my abdomen being distended.

Many things: It is reassuring that the scopes were normal. The surgery can cause scar tissue called adhesions. Ibs can also cause accumulation of gas. The surgery can cause some weakness of the abdominal muscles. As long as the tests (ct scans, etc) are normal, i would recommend trials of diet changes and probiotics and exercise. ...Read more

What's your question: This sounds like diverticulitis. There is a possibility of inflammation in the colon from the biopsies but this is uncommon and diverticulitis is common. You should see your doctor back to see if you need antibiotics or further investigation of the pelvis. ...Read more

Usually not but...: Colonoscopies are routine screening procedures for older americans, to look for colon cancer. Usually, there are no after effects, so a person feels fine afterwards. If there are symptoms, one should return to her primary care doctor and to her G.I. Specialist to see what is going on, and to see if there is a complication from the colonoscopy. ...Read more

Need more info: It seems to be chronic constipation, but really need more info to be able to help you with this and these forums are very limited. If your colonoscopy, pelvic exam and blood tests are negative, that is a good start. There are a few other imaging modalities, but the decision of which one really depends on knowing the whole story.
