Sounds right.: Tubular adenomas do occasionally progress to become cancers. Depends upon size and appearance under the microscope. If there is low grade dysplasia then there is no rush to re-scope. However they do need to be watched ( just like you would watch a funny mole on your skin.) Listen to your doc about the appropriate interval for repeating the colonoscope. ...Read more

tubular adenomas: The fact that you have tubular adenomas at such an early age probably does slightly raise your lifetime risk of colon carcinoma. However, now that you know you can have careful followup and screening to make sure all adenomas are removed before they can develop into colon cancer. ...Read more

Real risk: Your diet and exercise have little or no impact on your likelihood of developing colon cancer, but are very much worth doing for their own sake, for the fitness satisfaction, and other health benefits. This is mostly about your genes and dumb luck. You'll want to be 'scoped fairly often and little lesions removed promptly to reduce your risk greatly. ...Read more

It depends.: There are multiple factors which go into this decision. Do you have any family history of colon cancer or aggressive polyps? Why did they do a colonoscopy on you in the first place at age 22? You should consult with the gastroenterologist who did your previous procedures to evaluate the best timing.
