How to relieve colon pain? I have a pain spot on the edge of my left side. No other symptoms. I suspect that it's colon. What can I do?
Left side pain: Left sided abdominal pain may indicate a gas pocket, which is common in the splenic flexure of the colon. Such a pain may indicate constipation. Fiber: Most young people without any colon disease, such as inflammatory bowel disease, have irritable bowel disease or lactose intolerance. The treatment for ibd is increasing dietary fiber with whole wheat bran or psyllium seed products. Lactose intolerance is treated by avoiding dairy products. Infection: You had infection somewhere, if the CT scan of the abdomen revealed normal colon anatomy, the source of infection could be from another site, may be pelvic inflammation, urinary tract and so on. Agree with Dr. KATAKKAR. It is unlikely that you have colon cancer. However, the issue is not suitable for ER. You need to see your primary care provider and let her/him decide if a referral to a gastroenterologist is warranted.
