Should I be concerned if my 75 year old grandma has a colon infection how does this occur what causes it?

Colitis: Colitis means inflammation of the colon. Infections like C. difficile can cause colitis that can be successfully treated with antibiotics. There are other forms of colitis that can last a lifetime, like ulcerative colitis. Regardless, unless our patients show significant clinical improvement in the hospital, it's rare that we send them home with fevers. You should check in with your doctor. Read more
