Can i flush my colon with salt water and master cleanse?

Can i flush my colon with salt water and master cleanse?

Not a cleanse fan: As a surgeon, i must admit I am not a fan of 'colon cleansing, ' especially with harsh or aggressive cleansers. This can lead to electrolyte imbalances and irritation (colitis), as well as flaring hemorrhoids if you have them. I prefer proper nutrition and high fiber diet and your colon will take better care of itself. Your colon is designed to do what it does and eliminate waste naturally. ...Read more

Is it safe to flush ur colon if u have sibo? Would it help any.

SIBO: Very doubtful. Bacterial overgrowth is treated with antibiotics although whether this is first line treatment is arguable. Some recommend probiotics as first line therapy with antibiotics reserved for more severe cases. Prokinetic drugs are other options but research in humans is limited.Antibiotics with Rifaximin appearing to have the most success. ...Read more

I'm a chronic Lyme patient; anti microbial use has caused yeast overgrowth and now yeast die-off symptoms. Is colon cleanse nec. to flush toxins?

Herxheimer Reaction: The die-off may be going too quickly. If you are using a doc prescribed medicine ask him/her about lowering the dose. If over the counter back off a little. Your body is killing off faster than you can expel the results. Peace and good health. ...Read more

Had colostomy surgery for colon/bladder fistula. Have a super pubic catheter from previous. Since surgery the cath hasn't drained - bladder flush?

Had colostomy surgery for colon/bladder fistula. Have a super pubic catheter from previous. Since surgery the cath hasn't drained - bladder flush?

Call your surgeon: While it seems likely that flushing may resolve a suprapubic catheter that is not draining, it is critical that you contact your surgeon for advise. This it sounds like the surgery was fairly recent and because your repair may be adversely affected if the flush is done incorrectly (and if the flushing does not work, your surgeon will need to see you anyways), best to put him/her on alert. ...Read more

Flushing toxins out of my system? Is diuretic or colonic best?

Flushing toxins out of my system? Is diuretic or colonic best?

Neither: There is not evidence that either "treatment" works, and there have been many cases of people become sick, hospitalized, and even dead from any colonic and from inappropriate use of diuretics. Humans have a liver for capture of toxins - don't mess with your body that way. ...Read more

I suffer from depression. Colonic therapy relieved the depression for about a week. The treatments resulted in my body going completely flush as if the treatment was stimulating a vaso-dialiating hormone. What hormone would cause this effect?

Flush: The flush you experienced may have been from transient bacteremia which can be caused by instrumentation or manipulation of your GI system, this is mediated by cytokines and chemokines involved in the immune response. Those who experience flushing during a dumping syndrome associated with the carcinoid syndrome, which you can google, have serotonin mediated flushing. Colonoscopy at age 50? ...Read more

How can I clean my colon?

How can I clean my colon?

Not necessary: The desire to clean the colon relates to ancient medical theories about internal toxicity derived from the colon. The colon, thank you, is fully capable of taking care of itself and needs no cleansing. You can pay a great deal of money to alternate practitioners for colon cleansing but this is money badly spent. If you think you have medical problems, see your family doctor. ...Read more
