Constipation/C. Dif : There is a small percentage of healthy adult will have c. Difficile toxin tested positive, but they will not need to be treated if they are symptomatic. It is not recommended to test for c. Difficile toxin status if you do not have diarrhea. For your constipation, suggest high fiber diet, use citrucel (one tablespoon in 8 oz of water, drink daily). Not a cleanse fan: As a surgeon, i must admit I am not a fan of 'colon cleansing, ' especially with harsh or aggressive cleansers. This can lead to electrolyte imbalances and irritation (colitis), as well as flaring hemorrhoids if you have them. SIBO: Very doubtful. Bacterial overgrowth is treated with antibiotics although whether this is first line treatment is arguable. Some recommend probiotics as first line therapy with antibiotics reserved for more severe cases.
