No perfect tests!!: Some of these tests(CEA) are only useful for far advanced Cancers(not helpful for early detection of polyps or colon cancer. CEA and CA 19-9 are tumor markers, they are useless for most cases of early cancer. Abdominal ECHO has limited usefulness to detect fluid and certain cystic lesions, not useful for Colon Cancer. No.: If colon cancer is advanced or metastatic, it can show up on abd echo. If colon cancer or hemorrhoids bleed, FOBT can be positive. CEA and CA 19-9 have no place in detection of colon cancer, hemorrhoids, or polyps. CEA is sometimes useful in following colon cancer for any possible spread. ...Read more

Not a fan: I am not a fan of these techniques. Your colon is made to handle a high bacterial load and eliminate wastes. Proper nutrition and a high fiber diet with good hydration help it to work better in doing this.
