Do colon clense help?

Do colon clense help?

Crazy: Dr nguyen and heller are quite correct. The state of texas prosecuted practitioners of colonic cleansing because the procedure was ineffective and dangerous. This is outlawed in texas now. Patients were killed by perforation of the colon by inexperienced practitioners. This is a practice without scientific basis, in a word - quackery. ...Read more

Does colon clensing work?

Does colon clensing work?

Not a fan: I am not a fan of these techniques. Your colon is made to handle a high bacterial load and eliminate wastes. Proper nutrition and a high fiber diet with good hydration help it to work better in doing this. Aggressive cleanses can upset electrolyte balance and lead to colon irritation as well as upset normal bacterial flora (and lead to things like c-difficile colitis). ...Read more

Is there a safer way rather doing a colon cleansing?

Is there a safer way rather doing a colon cleansing?

You've seen the lite: Thanks for your follow-up question! many people who "cleanse" do so to lose weight, to eliminate supposed "toxins" in their body (let me assure you there are few accumulated toxins in the gut in most healthy people!), to feel "empty", or for other misguided reasons. Unless you have undiagnosed disease, laxation can be safely & gently accomplished with diet & over-the-counter agents like miralax (polyethylene glycol). ...Read more

Are colon cleanses and colonics safe?

Not necessary: The colon is a place where water and some nutrients are absorbed by one's body. Diarrhea occurs if one does not absorb the normal amount of water and nutrients from his poop (stool). If one has bowel problems, he can see his primary care doctor or a gastroenterologist. Colonic cleaning or irrigation is not natural, and can be dangerous if the person's chemical balance is distorted. ...Read more

Drink while I am on colon cleanse?

Drink while I am on colon cleanse?

Bad Medicine: Amazing. Here is your question as a physician see's it. I want to live healthy and I am undergoing a colon cleanse to get rid of toxins and such. But, I have to drink. I think that drinking alcohol is going to counter balance any thing you are attempting to do with a cleanse. If you cannot go for even one day without drinking perhaps we should start there and not with a colon cleanse. ...Read more

Can i take colon cleanse with food?

No: that defeats the purpose. The colon cleanse is supposed to cleanse the colon. If you eat while on the cleanse, you're undoing what the cleanse is doing. You stop eating before starting the cleanse. You resume eating and drinking after the colon test or whatever other reason for the cleanse. ...Read more

Does green tea help cleanse your colon?

No evidence for this: Caffeine is a potent stimulator of smooth muscle and may, therefore, have an impact on bowel function. One observational study showed that coffee consumption had some effect on constipation. However, japanese and chinese teas may have components that mitigate this effect of caffeine. If you want a beverage to help you move your bowels, you may be better off drinking a cup of hot coffee. ...Read more

Hi can I take colon cleanse with propanolol?

Hi can I take colon cleanse with propanolol?

Don't waste health: Healthtap physicians have repeatedly addressed this subject with a clear "no" answer to your question. There is virtually no value to colon flushes, cleansers, enemas, irrigation machines when the technique is accomplished to "detox" or eliminate "accumulated waste." the "no" response also applies to liver detoxes! there are few real health benefits, but sigificant unjustified risk. Don't "cleanse" ...Read more
