I've been looking for treatment from Doctor. he said, my colloid goiter will heal, if i eat thyrozol 5mg and proponalol 5mg, thats possible?? thank

Hyperthyroid?

Graves_disease
Treatment with thyrozol and propranolol would be appropriate if you have an overactive thyroid. It will not help if your thyroid level is normal and you simply have an enlarged thyroid. In your age group, the most common cause for hyperthyroidism is Graves disease. A goiter is common with this disorder and can resolve with treatment, if you go into remission.

Good day,I was dx.with colloid goiter, may i know what is the best treatment for this?Do i need to have tsh t3 t4 test before treatment?

Yes

Thyroid_ultrasound
Get your thyroid hormone levels tested. If the TSH is low, you will need a thyroid uptake and scan. Discuss this with your treating doctor.

Dr. Tracy A. Berg answered:

Do i need surgery for colloid goiter?

Depends

Goiter
Surgical indication for thyroid is based on size of the goiter, symptoms of obstruction, and the FNA diagnosis. There are times when surgery is a benefit, best to take family/friend with you to surgery consult. In many cases medical therapy and observation is all that is needed.

Dr. Philip A. Kern answered:

Docs can you explain what is a goiter, its symptoms and treatment?

Many possibilities

Graves_disease
An enlarged thyroid (goiter) has many causes and possible treatments. Is it causing hyper/hypothyroidism (i.e. Graves disease, toxic goiter, Hashimotos)? Check TSH, FT4. Maybe anti-TPO. Is the goiter nodular or smooth? This may require an ultrasound, with biopsy of any suspicious nodules. Is it really big and impair your swallowing/breathing? Then maybe surgery. Check with your doctor.

Dr. Tracy A. Berg answered:

What kind of treatment can I get for a goiter when I am allergic to iodine and do not want surgery?

Goiter

Pth_intact_and_calcium
Work with your team, your doc. If you have Graves disease and radioactive iodine was recommended, there are several additional medications with benefit. Initial therapy and subsequent result is important for you and your doc to determine subsequent treatments. Don't avoid all care over your iodine and surgery limits.

I have multinodular goiter. I suffer discomfort and pressure in the neck continuously. Is there any treatment or have to resort to surgery?

Choices

Neck
Your physician will be able to discuss with you whether you want radioactive iodine, levothyroxine suppression, or surgery. Reasonable people will make different choices. In your position, I'd get a good surgeon, but you must exercise autonomy after learning of all your options. Good luck.

Multinodular Goiter dx. Us biopsy of thyroid- benign. What's the treatment for goiter? Hx of cancer- cant I just get it removed prophylacticly?

Why?

Cancer
Unless it represents a danger like cancer, or is a severe physical or cosmetic problem, why remove an organ "prophylactically"/ If that were true, why not also "prophylactically" remove your nose, breasts, external ears, toes, one kidney......and all the other parts of your body you don't really need that could potentially cause trouble in the future?

I've been a half deaf for 12 years since I got a goiter.I visited a doctor (12 years ago) & he told me nerve damage. Is there a new treatment nowdays?

Difficult to say

Because it's not clear the association for your goiter with hearing loss, I'd recommend seeing an audiologist and ENT physician (otorhinolaryngologist) for your hearing loss. Let's see if it's actually nerve damage or some other problem.

I would consider

Iodine
thyroidectomy option if you are planning on pregnancy. Ask your endocrinologist to refer you to a surgeon for an opinion.

I Have two colloid goiter due to iodine Deficiency,my dr insists surgry, necessary?will i lose weight and thyroid function normally after surgery?

Second opinion

Thyroid
Surgery for colloid goiter is for cosmetic reasons. Surgery will neither cause you to lose weight nor restore thyroid function to normalcy. It may be prudent to get a second opinion.
