I've been looking for treatment from doctor. He said, my colloid goiter will heal, if i eat thyrozol 5mg and proponalol 5mg, thats possible?
Thank

Hyperthyroid?: Treatment with thyrozol and Propranolol would be appropriate if you have an overactive thyroid. It will not help if your thyroid level is normal and you simply have an enlarged thyroid. In your age group, the most common cause for hyperthyroidism is graves disease. A goiter is common with this disorder and can resolve with treatment, if you go into remission. ...Read more

I have two colloid goiter due to iodine deficiency, my dr insists surgry, necessary? Will i lose weight and thyroid function normally after surgery?

My mom has needle aspiration biopsy and the results were: follicular neoplasm adenoma vs carcinoma; adenomatous colloid goiter with hyperplastic chang?

It could be cancer/T: Thyroid cancer can show up like this. On the other hand benign Thyroid nodules are common but FNA may not be adequate to make a correct diagnosis. You should seek an expert opinion from a Thyroid Cancer doctor. Such specialists are found in bigger Medical centers or in a Cancer hospital where you could first go to an Endocrinologist or head and Neck surgeon for advice. ...Read more

Goiter: It may that colloid has increased. If tft's are normal there is no indication for the use of synthroid (thyroxine). However given the size you should have a biopsy. If it is cystic this may in fact decrease it in size as well. ...Read more

Dear doc. I have coloid goiter disease, then i want my disease surgery, but doubt. What percentage to sucess if my disease is in surgery? Thanks

No surgery.: To have success in surgery you have to have an objective. You don't get surgery just because you have disease. For goiter, surgery is usually indicated if there is a suspicion of cancer or the goiter has gotten so large that your airway is at risk for compression. Always ask your doctor why your having surgery and "because i said so" is not a good answer. ...Read more

Dear doc. I have been eating thyrozol 5mg/day and propanolol 10mg/day, cause i'v disease coloid goiter, so can I follow to practice karate? Thanks

heart rate?: If your resting heart rate is between 60 and 100 and you otherwise feel okay with exercise, i don't see where there would be any harm performing karate while under treatment for an overactive thyroid. If you have access to a thyroid stimulating hormone level (TSH) and its normal, there would be absolutely no issue at all but even if it's off, you're ok if you feel ok. ...Read more

Hyperthyroidism is managed differently from goiters with normal or low function. 2) usually an ultrasound is done to look for nodules suspicious for cancer - with biopsy if needed, 3) goiters are sometimes removed if they are enlarging significantly or cause swallowing or breathing issues. ...Read more

How to control a goiter?

Depends on cause: If it is a diffuse goiter, it may be caused by high tsh, which can arise in hypothyroidism or iodine deficiency (rare in usa, as salt is iodinated) or excessive goitrogens in susceptible ppl (like cauliflower). Treating the hypothyroidism can slow growth, if the above is the cause. If enlarging modules is the cause, surgery. Depends on cause, radioactive iodine may help. ...Read more
