My collar bone is sticking out (past 60 days). I've been told via a CT scan it's a ganglion cyst pushing the bone. Should I request an MRI?

No point unless Symp: Unless you're having symptoms related to the collar bone (or unexplained symptoms), there's no point to the MRI. It will only show you the ganglion cyst that you know is already there. It won't push you towards surgery, especially if you don't have symptoms, unless you've talked to a surgeon. Get the CT scan report & image b4 talking to your doctor or use HealthTap Prime to discuss further. Thanks ...Read more

One side of my collar bone sticks out more than the other. I was a huge baby. Related?

Could be: Sometimes the collar bone can fracture during delivery. Usually, fractures as an infant will heal without deformity. Have you had a recent injury? I would have it evaluated to make sure there is not a mass or more significant problem. ...Read more

Are babies born with a broken collar bone in a significant amount of pain?

No: Based on experience with both infants and older children with fracture clavicles, the fracture per se does not appear particularly painful, unless the arm is manipulated. That is why stabilizing the arm is an important step in managing this condition, which generally heals itself within a few weeks. ...Read more

Can babies have a metal plate put in for a collar bone fracture?

No: All fractures of collar bones of babies heal nicely without any surgery (within 7 to 10 days). Very rarely, an infant with brittle bone disease (viable type) may have a fracture of collar bone. I am not aware of any surgery being done in such situation. ...Read more

My shoulder hurts a lot and the collar bone on the hurt side sticks up or out more than the other side. It also hurts to lift pull or put pressure onit?

Sounds like you may:: Have had ac joint separation (joint between collar bone {clavicle} and acromion {part of scapula-- shoulder blade}), a DX which fits very well with your symptoms.
Its due to tearing off the ligaments holding the 2 bones together.
See your orthopod to start treatment. ...Read more

Nerve issue: In the absence of pain, swelling, limitation of motion and respiratory difficulties, most likely you have a localized problem with a small sensory nerve in the skin. At any rate if the symptoms persist for 4 to 6 weeks without resolution, you should get a medical examination. ...Read more

Lymph nodes?: It sounds as if you're got a few palpable lymph nodes, include at least one of the supraclavicular group. The average young person (my series) has two palpable lymph nodes. If they get really big or become fixed to a nearby structure, ask your physician. Best wishes. ...Read more

Take child to doctor: What you describe may be lymph nodes which enlarge in response to an inflammation in parts of the body. It will be wise to let a physician take a look and determine the cause in this case. ...Read more

Above collar bone near shoulder, pulse feels different on right side than on left when lying down with arm up under head. One side stronger.

Be checked: If you are concerned, I would not hesitate to be checked. Checking your blood pressure I each arm yourself or at your doctors office can tell if the difference you feel is real. If it is, there are several potential causes including unilateral thoracic outlet syndrome. A good exam and appropriate studies can usually determine the cause. ...Read more

What to do if I have 5 lumps on my right side of my neck. One kinda on my collar bone. One about a inch from my throat that?

Do not ignore: Most likely infection and not cancer. However, could be lymphoma. Also, there are higher rates of throat/tonsil cancer with neck lymph nodes in younger people (even nonsmokers) due to HPV infection.

However, remember this is most likely an infection. It may need treatment with an antibiotic. If lumps persist, however, just do not forget that cancer is a potential cause. ...Read more

Dr said I have mono. Lymph nodes swollen on underside od jaw and just noticed one on the left side above collar bone. Is this normal?

Typical for mono: This sounds normal for infectious mononucleosis. Enlarged lymph nodes can occur all over the body, and above the collarbone (the supraclavicular fossa, in medical terminology) is a common site. That said, mono is pretty uncommon above age 25. Discuss with your doctor if any doubt about the diagnosis. ...Read more

How does one break his or her collar bone while lifting weights?

Depends: This is a very difficult question to answer shortly and with little info. If you are lifting really heavy weights, the stress to the bone could be too much and causes the bone to break. There could have been a stress reaction or weaking in the bone prior that increased the likelihood for injury. ...Read more

I have a sharp pain on the left side of my collar bone. What can it be?

Hard to say: The collar bone connects the arm to the torso. On one side is a joint called the acromioclavicular joint and it can be injured or become arthritic or inflamed. On the other side is the joint between the collar bone and the sternum which can have similar problems as well. You certainly would want to make sure it is not cardia related as well.
