It can be muscular (due to muscular spasm, etc), neuropathic (nerve problem) or herniated disc, degenerative (arthritis), post-traumatic (fracture), or could be from cancer but there is no reason to jump to cancer. If the doctor is concerned that it won't heal without surgery or that it would heal and result in pain and/or dysfunction, the doctor will discuss surgery. Small but definite -: Chance with your hx of prostate cancer. See your orthopod to get investigated. I am sure your oncologist must be following you if its only been 2 yrs since you had radiation. I am sure he (she) can also tell you. Prostate cancers are generally amenable to radiation treatments and pts do very well.
