Refux and gas in bai: Reflux is very common in all infants and it is due to the gasto-esophageal junction which gradually matures as infant gets older, usually at 9-12 months. See the Pediatrician: Colic in a newborn needs to be evaluated as it may be a cause of several factors. It may be related to the use of infant formula for example. I would advise against giving any over the counter product on a daily basis unless instructed to do so by your Doctor. Not so fast: Before you decide that your baby has colic, first get your pediatrician to do a physical exam to rule out other causes. Colic is sometimes due to a component of the mother's diet. Your pediatrician can examine and possibly give you a hydrolysate formula. Consider eliminating certain foods. Till then, rock your baby, sing, soothe, pacify, and don't overfeed.
