Cluster of small, somewhat red raised bumps, not itchy, on upper thigh. Is this genital herpes? Never been sexually active, had cold sores in the past

Not herpes : You cannot have genital herpes if you never had sex; genital herpes is unlikely to first show up as a rash on the thigh; and your description doesn't sound like HSV. This definitely is not genital herpes, and also not HSV1 from your oral infection. If the rash continues to bother you or doesn't clear up, see a doctor for professional diagnosis. ...Read more

Go see your doctor: I hate to say it but there's not enough information for us/me to hazard a guess. Your doctor needs to examine you and take a thorough history. After all, the possibilities are almost endless ranging from lipoma to sebaceous cyst to ingrown hair to who knows what. Bottom line, go see your doc & give her/him as much info (history) as possible including travel, new meds & foods plus ill contacts. ...Read more

Your question: Doesn't really make a lot of sense to me. I can't quite follow it. But basically you need to know that genital herpes requires close skin to skin contact. It doesn't leap through clothing like pjs. ...Read more

Son may have cold sore, touching it and then grabbed my leg/underwear up my skirt. I'm 36 wks prego. Worried about herpes and baby. Can I get it?

No cause for worry: Herpes is not by such contact. To be ultra safe, mention this to your obstetrician. If she feels it necessary, you can have a blood test to see if you might already have HSV1; if so, you can't get it again. Until your baby is a month old, it will be important to prevent intimate contact of your baby with your son (e.g. no kissing). Otherwise no worries!. Best wishes for you and your growing family ...Read more

What are the symptoms of cold sores and what should I do to help?

What are the symptoms of cold sores and what should I do to help?

Painful blisters: Cold sores are painful blisters on or near the lips, cause by a herpes virus. They can come and go, since the body never completely gets rid of the virus. For many people with cold sores, topical over the counter treatments for pain relief are enough. If not, topical or oral antiviral medications can help if started soon after the cold sore first appears. ...Read more
