Those are rapid breathing (more than 24 x/min); nasal flaring;?; chest retractions; and use of the accessory muscles of respiration. Herpangina is often caused by the hand-foot-mouth virus (coxsackie virus) & can cause a lot of pain from sores at the back of the throat usually have a high-fever with this. Gingivostomatitis is most often caused by herpes type 1 virus, and these sores are more often around the lips and oral mucosa closer to your mouth. Strep is a possibility as well. ...Read more

Check to see that you don't have an exudate on your pharynx or tonsils or enlarged lymph nodes near the angle of your jaws which could suggest need for a strep throat test.
