Cold sore INSIDE nostril. How to treat??

Cold sore INSIDE nostril. How to treat??

Valacyclovir: Whether in a nostril or on lips or face, the standard recommendation for recurrent oral or facial herpes is valacyclovir (Valtrex®) 2 grams twice, 12 hours apart. Acyclovir also OK, but more doses. Do it ASAP; after 2-3 days, nothing will speed healing. If this is an atypical location for you, best to see doctor or clinic to confirm the diagnosis. But don't wait to treat; no harm if not herpes. Read more

I have a swollen painful bump on my nostril is it a cold sore? I've had it for 3 days and doesn't have a head like a pimple. It's very red and painful

A good history: A good social and medical history would be helpful to try to pinpoint what you may have. It is certainly likely that you have a cold sore, but I am more inclined to believe that you have a simple pimple in that area. I have seen several like this, they tend to get very red, no visible head on the skin surface, and very painful. Read more

Can you get a cold sore on bridge of your nose after a cold?

It could happen: Recurrent oral herpes (cold sore) outbreaks usually occur in pretty much the same place every time, usually on or near the lips. But it can happen anywhere nearby, including the nose. If the bridge of your nose is a new place, a cold sore is less likely. If this is your first possible outbreak, probably it's something else. If in doubt, see a doctor for professional evaluation and testing. Read more
