Does taking a hot shower or a cold shower treat a fever?

Does taking a hot shower or a cold shower treat a fever?

Not really: It may make you feel better, but the fever is the body's inflammatory response to infection or other inflammation, and may actually be helpful. You treat the infection, and the fever will vanish. Hope you are better soon.

Is it better to take cold showers if you are having a fever? Why or why not?

Fever is your friend: A cold shower won't help a fever or the disease process. In fact, you'll probably feel uncomfortable & you're wasting energy. A fever actually helps FIGHT an infection -so better to let it run. This doesn't apply for little kids that could seize with high temps however. Acetaminophen or an NSAID (ibuprofen) would lower the temp if you really wanted to. I recc to save your energy for fighting infxn

No: Kidneys don't catch colds. Colds are caused by respiratory viruses which infect the nose and throat. Lots of other things can happen in the kidney area, such as kidney stones, intestinal problems, pancreatitis, stomach disorders, etc... "excruciating pain" needs to be evaluated by a doctor

Still running a tempature 37.2 and over over 5days, can't seem to lower taken ibuprofen and nurofen, cold flannels, cool showers have got the flu but having an affect again with my asthma, doc Monday?

NOT A FEVER!!: 37.2 is a perfectly normal temperature so don't worry so much about that. You are quite possibly taking too much ibuprofen. Ibuprofen is one of the main ingredients in nurofen so STOP taking both. Make sure you are hydrating/pushing fluids. If your asthma is acting up then yes, definitely go see your doc. Also inform your doc about your ibuprofen usage so that they are informed and can monitor you.
