Hard to say: Answer depends on lots of information that we don't have. How long have you had it? When does it occur? Do you have any other medical problems? This is the sort of question best answered after an in-depth history & exam. Unless, after tracking the pain, you can relate it to an activity (certain exercise, prolonged sitting/standing in a certain position or chair) or a particular style of shoe.

Why do I get this hot sensation on the outer lower leg? Not actually hot, just rush of heat sensation. Have lower back px from strain w job.

Leg warmth: This sensation may be caused by impingement of a nerve root in your lower intervertebral spine from a disc or a spur in the lower spine. Another possibility is primary irritability/slight inflammation of the muscles or superficial nerves of the lower leg itself. If you wish to investigate further, a neurologist is best qualified to pinpoint the cause although your symptom appear mild at this time

Every night for the lasrt three weeks in the middle of the night II wake up and my left lower leg isreally cold. What could this be?

Poor blood flow=bad: A cold leg is very worrisome for ischemia. That means not enough blood is getting to the foot. It would be unusual to have this without pain though. You should see a doctor right away!

Pain running down my starting at my glut thru my ham string, and then my lower leg goes number and feel cold.

Pain running down my starting at my glut thru my ham string, and then my lower leg goes number and feel cold.

Go in for eval: Pain going down the leg, then numbness and coldness. This needs prompt evaluation. These are all concerning for problem with blood flow to the leg, which would be a vascular emergency. It at least needs to be ruled out.

Vascular consult: Hello, Its important you see a vascular surgeon. You will require certain non invasive vascular studies to check the integrity of the vessels in the lower extremity and evaluate you fro intermittent claudication. Taking care of this now will allow for less invasive vascular options and my patients have great prognosis afterwards. Feel better!

Myth or Fact? And why do you say? Body pain worse on Cold Days! I am experiencing lower leg pain and low back pain.

Fact: Muscle tend to tense up during cold. It is the response before shivering to generate more heat. The muscle tension may worsen the pain. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex.

I've had my leg in a splint for a week following a sprained ankle, it was removed today, now my lower leg/foot is cold to the touch, what would cau?

Concerned doctor: Are there any other symptoms such as redness, sweating, altered sensations? There's always a concern about regional pain syndrome in setting of trauma. Could just be due to the resolving edema and swelling from the sprain. Keep it elevated and try to move the ankle to prevent stiffness. Stay off it as much as possible.
