However, IgG antibodies binding to single strand (ss) DNA occur in a high percentage of people without autoimmune disease. ...Read more

blood test IGG 17.95 positive and IGM 8.50 negative. stool test was negative. do I infect with h.pylori?

Past infection: These results suggest past infection with H. pylori. The blood test can remain positive for years after past infection even if you were treated. The stool test and urea breath test can better detect current infection. The gold standard for testing is a biopsy during endoscopy. https://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/007501.htm ...Read more

Erosive gastritis. h.pylori blood test positive, breath test positive, stool antigen test negative, biopsy negative. what to do ?

Erosive gastritis. h.pylori blood test positive, breath test positive, stool antigen test negative, biopsy negative. what to do ?

Treat it: The positive H. pylori antibody test is not a reliable indicator of current infection. The gold standard for H. pylori treatment is the gastric biopsy, and this is negative in this patient. However, I am impressed by the positive breath test and erosive gastritis. I would have expected stool antigen to be positive, as it mirrors the breath test. Given the discrepant results, treat the patient. ...Read more

Negative result for thyroid peroxidase antibodies tpoab . Necessary to test my thyroglobulin antibodies tgab ?

Anti-thyroglobulin: Studies have shown that 99% of patients with hashimoto's thyroiditis have anti-microsomal antibodies, whereas only about 1/3rd had anti-thyroglobulin antibodies. In addition, 10-20% of persons without thyroid problems have anti-throglobulin antibodies (tg-a). This is my h.pylori blood test result. IGG positive 17.95. IGM negative 8.50. do I have h.pylori?

Likely not: IgG to this organism points to a previous infection, IgM an active or very recent infection which is not the case for you. If you do have gastritis symptoms however, I believe a PCR assay from a stool sample would be the best way to detect it if a culture of the gastric biopsy is not contemplated. ...Read more

Gut acts positive ??: There are a many conditions with overlapping symptoms effecting the gut. You don't list why the gut acts positive, which limits my answer. You can have intolerances to a variety of foods, artificial food dyes (red #40), and others, that will give symptoms but not trigger the immune tests for celiac disease. Keeping a food diary & eliminating/re-adding potential agents is one way track them down. ...Read more

What does it mean when your blood test showed candida antibody IgA 1.5. Igm 1.2. Igg 1.9. All high?

What does it mean when your blood test showed candida antibody IgA 1.5. Igm 1.2. Igg 1.9. All high?

Beware: I would be very cautious about any physician or other health care practitioner who proposes to treat you for a candida infection on the basis of bloodwork in the absence of a specific clinical finding of an infection. Labs that promote these tests are strongly linked to fringe medicine. My main concern is that you'll be given inappropriate medication and/or overlook a real health problem. ...Read more
