Does aloe Vera gel, cocoa butter lotion, or vitamin E oil heal mild scars on the face and body?

Does aloe Vera gel, cocoa butter lotion, or vitamin E oil heal mild scars on the face and body?

Possible: There is no proven scar healer out there that I am aware of, keeping the area clean and soft should help with decreasing the amount of scar build up. I have always thought that sunblock for the first year on a scar is important to avoid excessive scarring as sun damage can exacerbate a scar. Most scars overtime though do improve, the body usually does a good job at healing itself. ...Read more

PUPPP: The itching associated with pruritic uricarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (puppp) may worsen immediately after delivery, but generally resolves by 15 days postpartum. Your doctor can prescribe low to mid potency topical corticosteroids initially for relief of symptoms. Nonsedating oral antihistamines can also be used. Systemic glucocorticoids may be needed on occasion for extreme itching. ...Read more

See: See your doctor and ask for a prescription for hydroquinone. There are different strengths. Maybe start out with a lower percent and work your way up as tolerated. In the meantime if you want to cover up your dark elbows apply under eye concealer to your elbows (dab it on) and finish with a liittle powder.

Is it effective to use vitamin E to get rid of scars?

Myth but use if help: Many of my patients swear by the benefits of vitamin e and so I generally don't dissuade them but there is very little science to support its use. It is probably the massage, (which we know helps scars) that is used to apply the vitamin e, which is actually providing the improvements observed. Massage with any clean oil 3-4 times a day. Silicon gel trips are morel likely to improve the scar. ...Read more

What is better: silvadene or vitamin E for burn scars?

What is better: silvadene or vitamin E for burn scars?

Neither: Silvadene is a very good medication for early open burn wounds in order to minimize infection and the potential for future scarring due to delayed healing. However, in and of itself, it is not an effective scar treatment once the wounds have healed. Although folklore commonly promotes the use of vitamin e, there is insufficient evidence to support its use un scar prevention. ...Read more

What is best for lip scar removal? Vitamin e or mederma? Anything else if possible?

Not much: Unfortunately, most scar treatments offer only marginal improvement over doing nothing at all. The biggest problem with the area around the lips is the amount of dynamic motion and tension that is created on the wound, which lends to a problematic scar. I find the biggest factor is the amount of surgical debridement of injured tissue affects the outcome of the scar. ...Read more
