Can addison's disease co exist with late onset cah?

Can addison's disease co exist with late onset cah?

2 distinct diseases: These are 2 very different conditions, both of which result in inadequate production of cortisol (as well as mineralocorticoids). Addison disease = failure of or destruction of the adrenal cortex. Cah = enzymatic deficiency which blocks the hormone production in the adrenals, generally presenting as a newborn. Similar results--potentially lethal cortisol deficiency--but very different diseases. ...Read more

Do co codamol improve the mood?

Do co codamol improve the mood?

Doubtful: Co-codamol is a mixture of paracetamol and codeine is used for pain relief and should not be used to correct mood disorders. Tubular acidosis question. Gfr improves consistently with b12 shot and bicarbonates (sodium bicarbonate). Nephrologists refer dialysis but crt 2.6 to 1.5 with bicarb. !?

Here are some...: Glad to see her acidosis has been improved from taking sodium bicarbonate. Known to us, dialysis is designed for fluid overload and/or electrolyte and acid-alkaline imbalance. Do nephrologists recommend dailysis now or refer for pre-dialysis assessment? So, ask her doctors for specifics and relevance for renal tubular acidosis, dialysis, etc. because online 400-letter does not suffice to address.. ...Read more

"I've got hemophilia b 23% factor 9 deficiency. In 1981, age two (now 35) via transfusion of factor 9 hep c anti. Can amyl nitrate be prescribed 4this?

Not that I'm aware: Amyl nitrate, not to be confused with amyl nitrite which is used medicinally to relax blood vessels (and also recreationally as "poppers") is most likely toxic to humans. While it's used as reagent in industrial chemical synthesis and as an additive to diesel fuel, i can find no evidence for its use in medicine for Hemophilia, hepatitis C or other disorders. ...Read more

How are social phobia and avoidant personality disorder distinguished from each other?

How are social phobia and avoidant personality disorder distinguished from each other?

Type of social anx: Good question. Depends on whether the social phobia/anxiety is generalized or non-generalized (e.g., specific social situations such as public speaking). Most people have "non-generalized" type social phobia. Those with generalized type (have more of an embarrassment response rather than fear as in "non-generalized" type) also are considered for the additional apd diagnosis. So, general vs. Spec. ...Read more

How does exchange transfusion benefit sickle cell patients?

How does exchange transfusion benefit sickle cell patients?

Removes sickle cells: Acute red cell exchange is useful in acute infarctive stroke, in acute chest and multi-organ failure syndromes. The process replaces sickled red blood cells with normal red blood cells. This procedure can also benefit certain patients on chronic transfusion plans by replacing sickled cells without increasing the viscosity of blood. ...Read more

How does hypoxia related hyperpnea affect abg's? Had gases with normal ph, pco2 low, po2 also low, hco3 20. Rr was about 36, saturation 97. Nonsmoke

How does hypoxia related hyperpnea affect abg's? Had gases with normal ph, pco2 low, po2 also low, hco3 20. Rr was about 36, saturation 97. Nonsmoke

Lung and kidney: If one has hypoxia, that is most likely due to damaged lung unable to pick up more o2. When someone breathes fast there is low co2, as it is breathed out. Co2 + h20 becomes h2co3 and in the kidneys become h and hco3 (bicarbonate) but since co2 is low hco3 is also low (the product) and this is the balance of the ph so ph is either normal or basic (high) due to co2 elimination by breathing. ...Read more
