How should I apply clotrimazole vaginal cream into my vagina?

Vaginal applicator: Generally medications placed vaginally (e.g. Anti-fungals, Premarin (conjugated estrogens) cream...) come with a 'vaginal applicator'. The applicator twists on to the tube of medicine and with a slight squeeze the applicator fills up. The applicator is then placed in the vagina after which the plunger on the applicator is pushed- expelling the medication into the vagina. Voila! ...Read more

Can topical clotrimazole cream be used vaginally as well? Only difference between the 2 seems to be the inactive ingredients.

Can topical clotrimazole cream be used vaginally as well? Only difference between the 2 seems to be the inactive ingredients.

Maybe OK, but why?: The skin (non-vaginal) cream might work, but can't be guarantteed; I'm sure the manufacturer never studied it for vaginal yeast. And you'd need to use nearly an entire tube of skin cream for just 1-2 treatments. Clotrimazole vaginal cream is designed to be effective and generic versions often are cheap. Or consider a single oral dose of fluconazole (Diflucan®), which is just as effective. ...Read more

See your doctor: A jelly like discharge is often semen. Semen turns into a thick gel when ejaculated into the vagina, this keeps it from all falling out. The semen then thins about 1 day later and exits the vagina, it often seems like a jelly. However, without seeing you we can't rule out infection. You should see your doctor for an exam and diagnosis. Good luck. ...Read more
