Clonazepam Vs Ambien For Sleep
Klonopin (clonazepam) belongs to a class of medications called benzodiazepines. They are also referred to as sedative-hypnotics & anxiolytics. These medications are used for a variety of indications to include anxiety, insomnia, muscle spasm, seizure, & alcohol withdrawal. All benzodiazepines including Clonazepam are potentially habit forming. Alcohol should be ...Read more
Not recommended: Seroquel (quetiapine) is an anti-psychotic medication used for serious psychiatric disorders. It is not recommended as a sleeping aid. Talk to your pcp about what may be causing your insomnia and to find alternative meds if necessary. See: https://sleepfoundation.org/insomnia/content/what-causes-insomnia I hope this helps. Best wishes. ...Read more
Try other means 1st: The best sleep is natural sleep. If you're having trouble sleeping, try simple changes: don't go to bed if you're not sleepy, avoid caffeine and alcohol, and don't exercise late in the day. Stay off your computer or phone late in the evening; bright screens can interfere with natural sleep cycles. Try meds only under a doctor's care and for occasional, not daily use. Good luck! ...Read more

Insomnia: And apnea are classified in the category of dyssomnias. These are sleep disorders associated with excessive sleepiness as a result of difficulty initiating or maintaining sleep. Treatment for apnea is cpap. Ativan and Klonopin (clonazepam) are the same group (benzos) and equally effective for short term treatment for insomnia. Take Klonopin (clonazepam) for anxiety and sleep,Fetzima for depression, what's an alternative for Klonopin (clonazepam) that I can use,take1mg 1am,1noon,2 bed?
Many alternatives: There are many alternatives, but it depends on why you're looking for an alternative. Is Klonopin (clonazepam) not working? Perhaps the dose in wrong. Are you looking to get off of benzodiazepines (the drug class that Klonopin (clonazepam) is in) altogether? If so, then your doctor should slowly titrate you off the medication (10-25% weekly or biweekly, depending on how long you've been taking) while initiating another med ...Read more
Not good idea: Sleeping pills should only be taken here and there, now and then, not everyday for weeks/months/years. Sleeping pills should be effective through the night and stop working by morning, which means they should have short half-lives. Diazepam has a 20-100 hour half-life, so it is still in your system all day the next day and is not a good idea as a sleeping pill. ...Read more
Request Ambien (zolpidem) taper schedule. Current dose = Ambien (zolpidem) 5mg and Ambien (zolpidem) cr 6.5mg q.D. At bed for ssri taper. 1 month clear of ssri, doing well...Desire taper from ambien (zolpidem). Otc meds (melatonin) help?
Lunesta (eszopiclone): Lunesta (eszopiclone) is by far the safest of the three. Ambien causes too much sleep-eating, sleep-walking, sleep talking, and even sleep driving. I have not seen any of this with lunesta (eszopiclone). Silenor is horrifically expensive for an old generic drug in low doses and is probably the closest in effect to benadryl. I don't know of anyone that has switched into mania on it, but it is a theoretical possibility. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Dr prescribed 50mg zoloft (sertraline) for depression, 80 mg propranolol for panic and .5 clonazepam for sleep from insomnia. Not sleeping. What otc sleep aid safe
Why do sleep aides (benadryl, ambien, sonata (zaleplon) ,lunesta, prosom, elavil) not work for me?
Benzodiazepines as a: Trratment for sleep apnea are contraindicated because they all, including xanax, (alprazolam) tend to depress our respiratory centers and can be even more depressing and even dangerous in sleep apnea. There are other medications that a physician can use to help sleep problems safely. Over the counter sleep aids when one is on prescription meds should be discussed with the prescribing physician or practitioner. ...Read moreSee 4 more doctor answers
Depends: Generally speaking, Lunesta (eszopiclone) may be better for sleep onset, trazodone for sleep maintenance, though there might be exceptions. Ideally, best approach to resolve sleep issues is to treat underlying cause (e.g. Depression, anxiety, sleep apnea), then practice sleep hygiene (sleep-promoting behaviors), and then consider meds for sleep. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Is klonopin (clonazepam) the cause of morning teeth clenching?Take klonopin (clonazepam) for sleep
What sedatives work best Ambien cr, sonata, (zaleplon) lunesta, rozerem or silenor?I take restoril but doesn't work.I can't sleep unless i take an extra seroquel.
Don't get dependent: Taking more and more sleep meds is a dangerous path. Figure out why you can't sleep; see your primary care md first. Eliminate caffeine; don't exercise too late in the evening; stay away from your cell phone and other bright screens just before going to bed. Don't go to bed until you're sleepy. May need referral to sleep lab. Try to get off all sleep meds. Good luck! ...Read more
