I know that mixing clonazepam and alcohol is dangerous, but if i took 2mg of clobazepam can I have a couple of drinks a couple of hours later? Im 18
Klonopin (clonazepam) belongs to a class of medications called benzodiazepines. They are also referred to as sedative-hypnotics & anxiolytics. These medications are used for a variety of indications to include anxiety, insomnia, muscle spasm, seizure, & alcohol withdrawal. All benzodiazepines including Clonazepam are potentially habit forming. Alcohol should be ...Read more
No: This is a dangerous and even potentially life-threatening combination, depending on your health, the dose of clonazepam, and how much you drink. Often alcohol abuse is the cause of the anxiety, and doctors who either do not ask about it, or were not given truthful answers, will prescribe benzodiazepines, sometimes with disastrous results (coma, brain damage, death). Talk to your doctor about it. ...Read more

Dr prescribed klonopin (clonazepam) to help with alcohol withdrawals.I start tomorrow, am curious if this is enough to help with withdrawals.Shakes, seizures etc?
Prob a good idea...: Hi Stephen91. Congratulations on deciding to withdraw from alcohol use..hope you are in touch with AA and have adopted 'the method' as a long term strategy. Benzodiazapines like klonopin (clonazepam) enhance GABA transmission, and help prevent the feelings and the seizures that sometimes occur with abrupt alcohol cessation. Also suggest multivitamins and lots of fluids. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
One doctor on here called clonazepam "the pill version of alcohol". I have a huge benzo tolerance and clonazepam doesn't work for me no matter how much i take but alcohol still works. Why?
WORKS?: Sounds like you have serious trouble with anxietyand/or depression, and you're looking for things outside you to change your feelings. That's a sign that you need therapy to help you deal with the causes. Maybe even detox first? Definitely find a therapist to help. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Alcohol and 0.5 of klonopin, (clonazepam) taken in different time in a healthy person can be used?
Can or should? : I think your gut already knows the answer to this. You didn't indicate how many servings of alcohol. A single shot of vodka or a 40-ouncer bottle of beer? And an hour of separation or 24 hours? From a biomedical standpoint, you are probably ok. Benzos are given to patients to protect brain from alcohol W/D. That said, it is not advisable. Both, w/klonopin's long 1/2life, suppress respiratory drive ...Read more
If i took 1mg klonopin (clonazepam) 4 days ago, how soon can I have alcohol? I have never been on meds before and it's as needed only.
Should be fine: That is a while ago, there may be some Clonazepam still in your system although at this point there would be very little. It should be okay to consume alcohol in moderation at this point. I would not advise taking any Clonazepam and consuming alcohol together simultaneously or in the same day. I would talk with your prescribing physician more about your concerns. Stay safe! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Depends: Clonazepam is a sedative that can be used for short term treatment of anxiety or severe insomnia. If it was used for this reason, it is okay to have a drink in moderation. Sometimes Clonazepam is used to detox or taper from alcohol. If this was the case and you find yourself craving alcohol again, please consider aa or another form of treatment. :). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
