Lorazepam is shorter acting than clonazepam. Some people feel better with a shorter agent and taking it more frequently during the day while others prefer a longer acting agent and taking it less frequent. However it does not always follow what seems to be simple pharmacokinetics.
I.E. Some people need to take Klonopin just as frequent as lorazepam. For more info, check suggested healthtap apps. ...Read more

Hard to say: Since it depends if we are talking about acutely, where it takes twice as much Clonazepam to equal the clinical effects of lorazepam. However, once Clonazepam reaches it's steady state, it is actually twice a potent as lorazepam. So, initially you might need 3 mg of Clonazepam four times a day for the first day to feel the same effects, but you quickly have to reduce down to 1 mg three time/d. ...Read more

Slowly and with care: Of the prescribing professional or other physician. Serious withdrawal symptoms can occur with too rapid withdrawal or withdrawal without medication coverage when any benzodiazepines are involved. Seizures are probably the most serious. It's not a good idea to do this on your own. ...Read more
Since I switched from ativan (lorazepam) 6mg back to clonazepam 2mg I don't have to take 2mg somedays just. 5mg is because of the ativan (lorazepam) leaving my system?
Klonopin (clonazepam) is more: Potent than ativan, (lorazepam) and this varies a great deal between people. However, if you have a history of seizures, and you are on a significant dose of benzodiazepines, sudden reductions may increase the chance of having more seizures. There are better ways to treat anxiety over the long haul than using benzos - psychotherapy (esp cognitive behavioral therapy or cbt), antidepressants and other meds. ...Read more

Clonazepam: Benzodiazepines are rarely associated with elevated liver functions or clinically apparent liver injury and have not caused acute or chronic liver failure. However, there have been a few case reports about Clonazepam irritating the liver [none about Ativan] and therefore it would be considered slightly harsher. Their effect on the liver is probably due to a rarely produced intermediate metabolite. ...Read more
Can you explain if it's safe to take 2.5 mg lorazepam with 1.5 mg clonazepam plus 150 mg seroquel (quetiapine) xl?
In general, no: I don't know your medical history or what you are already taking, but that is a great deal of benzodiazepine, including one long-acting one (klonopin) and one short-acting one (lorazepam), both in doses significantly higher than recommended initial doses. If this is what your doctor is prescribing, and he knows your history and tolerance, it may be safe. Don't drive until you know how you react. ...Read more

Treating Anxiety: These drugs are so similar there will be no discernible difference. The side effects will be exactly the same. And, remember these drugs are not curing or preventing anxiety. You need a fully different approach to do that. These drugs are sedatives. They do not prevent or cure anxiety. ...Read more
Is lorazepam most similar to xanax (alprazolam)? I know duration is longer but is it the closest one in this class of drugs? Klonopin doesn't work
Xanax (alprazolam): Lorazepam is similar to Xanax (alprazolam) in that it has a short half life which means it seems to work faster but doesn't last as long, This makes these more addictive. Klonopin and Tranxene have a longer half life which takes longer to work but lasts much longer and is still addictive but less so. ...Read more
Been on clonazepam for 3 years today my dr changed it to ativan (lorazepam) 6 mg I was on 2mg klonopin will I withdrawal or what? Thinks iit will help better
Lorazepam 1 mg =: 0.25 md clonazepam. Therefore, 2 mg of Klonopin would equal 8 mg of lorazepam. Additionally, Klonopin will leave your system much more slowly than lorazepam, so the overlap may help initially and you could actually find yourself over sedated since the Klonopin will hang around for about 50-300 hours whereas the Lorazepam will hang around 40-hrs to 5 days. Overall you will likely feel some withdrawal. Best wishes. ...Read more

I took Clonazepam 1mg yesterday and I have a bottle of 9 month old Ativan (lorazepam) which is. 5mg. Is it okay for me to take some of the ativan (lorazepam)? I ran out of clonazepam and I currently don't have a primary.
Not ok.: The relative dosages may be equivalent for you or not, and the effectiveness may be equivalent or not. But there medico-legal problems. The Ativan (lorazepam) is not now prescribed for you, now, so you are self-medicating with a controlled drug. It is unlikely that you will be put in jail for this, but it contributes to a picture that you may not be fully willing to work a doctor with a controlled drug. ...Read more
