Clomid Use In Men
Clomid (clomiphene) and men: Clomid (clomiphene) use in men, as in women, produces an increase in the gonadotropins lh ; fsh (the hormones which stimulate the gonads). If a man has poor testicular function due to low lh ; fsh (as characterized by low sperm count and/or low testosterone), prolonged daily use of high doses of Clomid (clomiphene) (or its twin, tamoxifen) may correct this. ...Read more
None for most men: Clomiphene citrate is an estrogen antagonist. For women who are estrogen dominant, this can cause multiple side effects as the Clomiphene shifts the estrogen to androgen (male hormone) balance away from the estrogen. In men, shifting that same balance away from estrogen and toward the androgens is not a problem as men are naturally androgen dominant. Most men have virtually no side effects. ...Read more
How does my Clomid dosage and response compare to other men? My testosterone increased from 450 to 977 after 3mo, taking 25mg 3x/wk (now only 2x/wk).
Good Response: Judging by the levels you submitted, you have had a good response, and lowering the weekly dosage seems sensible. Were you taking any other testosterone increasing meds prior to your level of 450? If yes, then you have had an excellent response. The goal is to aim towards a level in the mid-normal range of about 500 if you are a middle aged male. ...Read more
Male infertility: Clomid (clomiphene) is a selective estrogen receptor modulator. In certain males it can increase the production of lh and fsh by the pituitary gland which then stimulates the testicle to produce more testosterone. The testosterone produced by the testicle can then increase male secondary sexual characteristics such as facial hair. Clomid (clomiphene) is not used very often to treat male infertiilty. ...Read more
Depends!!!: Every guy is different. First, you need functional testes. Let's say your t is low because you had mumps orchitis when you were young. Or had testicular injury due to torsion. Perhaps an orchiectomy. If so, then Clomiphene won't work to increase natural t production. Assuming otherwise normal testicular function, some men need more while others need less. Plan to check your levels before ; after. ...Read more
My husband has 3% motility, and told that his sperm liquifies right away?
He was prescribed Clomid (clomiphene) does that work for men? Isn't that for women?
Unlikely to work: The sperm count and morphology matters a lot as well. I assume he saw a urologist who examined him and determined he did not have a varicocele. Clomid (clomiphene) can work in women but it is more likely to improve sperm count. You may be looking at ivf with icsi as your only real option to conceive. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Are there medicines to increase sperm count in men? Wife is on Clomid (clomiphene) and if I can increase my count that would be great. Semen analysis normal.
Variable: If the semen analysis is normal then increasing the sperm count will not be very helpful. Clomid (clomiphene) and other anti-estrogens have been used to increase sperm count. The results are somewhat variable though, occasionally the sperm count may actually become lower or not change at all. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
What is the risk associated with suppressing fsh/lh when using Clomid (clomiphene) to increase testosterone in men?
Clomid (clomiphene) increases LH: The use of Clomiphene citrate increases testosterone by increasing the lh levels and stimulating testosterone production by the testes. It also increases fsh ( thus it's use as a fertility drug for women) the only theoretic risk would be secondary to overstimulation of the testes, which in theory might increase the risk for testicular germ cell tumors, although i know of no diagnosed cases of this. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

NO CLOMID (clomiphene) FOR MEN!: I do not use Clomid (clomiphene) on males. In my experience it does not improve sperm , but may cause "man boobs" which must be removed surgically. If you have to shave, and fantasize about sexy looking women--you do not need more testosterone! too much testosterone causes many physical and psychological problems! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Clomid (clomiphene): Clomid (clomiphene) is given to men in an attempt to increase their sperm count. Special care needs to be taken to follow their testosterone levels. Unfortunately Clomid (clomiphene) is not consistent when given to the men in that it may increase their sperm count but i've also have seen it lower their sperm count or not change it at all. ...Read more

Yes, it can work.: Just as Clomiphene can stimulate the inadequately functioning ovary, it can stimulate the inadequately functioning testicle in some men. The reason for the inadequate function is key as not every male will be able to respond. An evaluation of the male is important. The other difference is that if Clomiphene is going to work for a woman, you'll know within 2 weeks. For men, it will take 3-6 months. ...Read more
