Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. Friday I took a pregnancy test it came back positive. I took another test today the same clinic same brand and it said negative. What could that mean?

It depends.: The test could be read wrong. You could be very early pregnant and the urine today may be too dilute and below the thresh hold of the test. I recommend repeating the test with a first void specimen in the morning or simply do a blood test (serum quantitative beta HCG). ...Read more

I posted before I went to the clinic and got two pregnancy test done and they were positive and now at home im getting multiple negg can be pregnant?

Yes is more likely: The clinic tests are more likely to be correct than your home tests. Give it some time but consider it probable that you are pregnant. If this is what you desire, be happy. If not, start planning for how you want to deal with it since you have a good chance of having to. Use protection when having sex just in case. Good luck. ...Read more

1 doctor agreed:

Possibly: Different pregnancy tests may have different sensitivities to the level of pregnancy hormone. Of course, false positives are also possible. The best way is a blood test to look at the actual level. Otherwise, you can repeat the test in a week. Discuss this with your clinic doctor. Good luck! ...Read more

I went to a clinic to take a pregnancy test on 12/23 @ 4 pm, last time I had sex was 11/8 The test was negative, but could it be false do to the time?

No: By then it should have been positive if you were pregnant but if in doubt you can repeat the test this weekend just to reassure yourself. If you don't want to be pregnant, you need to ask about starting a reliable method of contraception while you are at the clinic. ...Read more

I went to a clinic and got a pregnancy test done, it was positive. I went to the ER. They did a blood test and it was negative. Could I be pregnant?

Great question: The sensitivity of tests can vary a great deal. This results in what we call false positive and false negative results which vary with the sensitivity and specificity of the tests. In a case like this I would repeat the tests in one week. That will usually result in both tests agreeing. Either way, be safe and follow healthy guidelines. Good luck! ...Read more

Can someone be pregnant after a negative home pregnancy test and a negative pee test from the clinic? Should they take another test?

Can someone be pregnant after a negative home pregnancy test and a negative pee test from the clinic? Should they take another test?

Trust the test: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate. They are the same tests used in a doctor's office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period. If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection. ...Read more

I waited two weeks to get a pregnancy test at the clinic (wich was yesterday and it came out negative but my period isn't for a week...Too soon?

Yes, too soon: A urine pregnancy test should be positive by around the time your period is due. If you don't expect your period to start for another week, you should repeat the test then. If the test is negative then and your period still doesn't start, i'd do it again a week later. ...Read more

Hello, I haven't had a period since august 12, 2012 its now october 19, 2012. I took one home pregnancy test which was neg. I went to the clinic on?

Recheck a HPT: Pregnancy is only one cause of missing period. Also, home pregnancy tests are good, but not perfect and so getting a blood test maybe needed. Other causes: thyroid diseases, infections, significant illness or rapid wt loss/gain, excessive/prolonged exercises, and ovarian or pituitary failures are few examples of causes to miss your period. I would suggest consulting doc. Good luck. ...Read more

Hi im 57 and ive recently had a neg. Pregnancy test at a clinic but I feel pregnant my stomach is getting bigger what should I do...

Doctor can evaluate: A 57 year-old isn't expected to get pregnant. A sensation of something enlarging in the stomach means it's time to get a full evaluation. One's doctor will do an exam and some tests, as he will want to make sure there is not a tumor in the abdomen. ...Read more

15 days following embryo transfer I had a ve pregnancy test followed by 2 negatives at day 17 19 I have not had a period could I still be pregnant my clinic advised me to stop all meds but I m scared to do so?

Doubtful, sorry: It's still possible but very unlikely, I'm sorry. With an embryo transfer the dating is absolute, and 15 days after transfer is more time than necessary for the test to be positive. You should trust your clinic and talk with them about your concerns...Sorry about the disappointing cycle. ...Read more
