There is: Normally clyndamycine is the drug of choice in this case where anaerobic bacteria is the cause of the abscess , but there are alternatives in broad spectrum antibiotics, your dentist would be able to prescribe one for you. Caution: I would choose Clindamycin over Amox as I suspect you have MRSA .... BUT it is very unwise to take old medicines and left over meds means you didn't complete the original treatment. Not taking the full course of antibiotics only partially treats the germ - kills the weak ones and teaches the strong ones to fight harder next time. Soon the meds may not work.
