Could the antibiotic Macrobid delay your period?

Could the antibiotic Macrobid delay your period?

It shouldn't: Antibiotics should not interact with your period one way or the other. One concern with mixing antibiotics and birth control pills is that the antibiotics can change one's gut flora (bacteria) enough to effect the way the pill is absorbed and that can affect the period. The short answer is still, no. If your period remains delayed it would be worth a visit to the doctor ...Read more

Can Clindamycin affect period cycle used for treatment of BV? What can I do to further prevent BV?

BV "blues": Bacterial vaginitis itself can alter or delay your period even while it is being treated by Clindamycin if it is severe enough. The best way to prevent BV is to not douche (vagina is self cleansing like an oven) avoid feminine deodorant products and male partners who are "players". Does taking Vaginal Antibiotics decrease the effects of Primulot N? I took 3 Clindamycin while taking them and got my period! Can I be back on pills?

It's possible: There are some reports that Clindamycin, even used vaginally, can decrease progesterone levels which might promote breakthrough bleeding. Primolut N, a synthetic progesterone, is most often used to manage menstrual disorders including irregular periods and to delay menses; it is not a contraceptive. I would continue the Primolut but consider an alternative if you need vaginal antibiotic therapy. ...Read more

I have a small lymph node in my neck and I have clindamycin antibiotics however I am scared to take them should I take them?

Hmmm....: Everyone has small lymph nodes in the neck. The nodes are there to protect us, by detecting undesirables such as germs, and forming a defensive response by the immune system. I'm on clindamycin for MRSA. I'm aware it's a dangerous antibiotic, but is it safer via IV or orally?

Varies: I would not really say clindamycin is a dangerous antibiotic in general. The main issues in your case would be that a fair amount of Mrsa strains are resistant to clindamicin and also it can cause (as many antibiotics can) pseudo membranous colitis which is when antibiotics can kill normal bacteria in the gut and unhealthy bacteria can overgrow. Iv verse po each has their plusses and minuses. ...Read more
