Wondering when would you prescribe a course of 5 days of 300 mg clindamycin after root canal on infected tooth vs 7 days or more.?

Wondering when would you prescribe a course of 5 days of 300 mg clindamycin after root canal on infected tooth vs 7 days or more.?

Depends on infection: The effective rate of arresting the infection is on average five days for clindamycin. Taking an antibiotic longer than necessary increases the risk of adverse reactions. More virulent infections may require longer administration periods. Ask your dentist what your specific infection will require.

Hi. Can I used clindamycin solution for morning and on afternoon medicated toner then evening clindamycin solution again? Is it right for pimples?

Acne treatment: Yes, you should be able to use Clindamycin twice a day. However, if your face gets red or you develop diarrhea cut back to once a day.

Child is strep carrier, augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) did not work. Would 10 day supply of clindamycin work?

Child is strep carrier, augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) did not work. Would 10 day supply of clindamycin work?

Work for what?: Being a strep carrier is not the same as having an infection. Normally no antibiotics are necessary and may even cause problems (like thrush, diarrhea, etc.) a good review of the subject is at: http://www. Pediatricweb. Com/madisonpeds/article. Asp? Articletype=9&articleid=851.

Doctor prescribed Clindamycin Phosphate for acne. Can anyone give me information on how this medication works?

Two ways: It works as an anti inflammatory and as an antibiotic as acne is an inflammatory process and bacterial issue. There is a bacteria associated with acne which is treated by this antibiotic.

How long does it take for antibiotic clindamycin to kick in on a major tooth infection?

How long does it take for antibiotic clindamycin to kick in on a major tooth infection?

Usually 2 Days: A regular tooth infection normally shows signs of significant improvement within 48 hours. However, you said "major, " so it might take a bit longer. If you don't notice a huge improvement within 2 days, it's always a good idea to see your dentist again and perhaps add another antibiotic prescription to what you're currently taking. Don't wait too long & allow the infection to spread or get worse.

While pregnant is it safe to use clindamycin phosphate 2% topically? Is topical differin (adapalene) safe while pregnant?

While pregnant is it safe to use clindamycin phosphate 2% topically? Is topical differin (adapalene) safe while pregnant?

It is safe.: Yes. It is safe to use Clindamycin topical. It is also safe to use differin (adapalene), (adapalene) even though drug info suggests "precautious, category-c for pregnancy". Just use common sense, how likely it would be that differin (adapalene) being absorbed through skin and causing systemic (side) effect? None ever reported.

Givin Clindamycin for sore in ear that won't heal. Diahrrea for month now 2 weeks after stopping, imodium (loperamide) safe to take?

Givin Clindamycin for sore in ear that won't heal. Diahrrea for month now 2 weeks after stopping, imodium (loperamide) safe to take?

Unclear.: For now I would say no. The ear needs to be reevaluated but the problem with the stool is concerning. True diarrhea this long might be a complication of the antibiotics. The germ is called clostridium dificile Need to see your doctor for this as this could cause a problem taking Imodium (loperamide). Can actually rarely develop a toxic situation.

Prednisone causes inflammation side effect w/metronidazole & clindamycin. Cyst removed f. Gum. Why is ibuprofen not sufficient in place of prednisone?

Prednisone causes inflammation side effect w/metronidazole & clindamycin. Cyst removed f. Gum. Why is ibuprofen not sufficient in place of prednisone?

Maybe not: I am not clear what you mean. Prednisone is an anti-inflammatory and does not increase inflammation. Ibuprofen has a slightly increased risk for bleeding because of antiplatelet effects I am uncertain what the rationale is for all your medications except that you might be infected or at risk for infection. Prednisone may decrease swelling but may also increase your risk for infection.

Marijuana help with the side effects of clindamycin?

No. Cannabis: Has mild anti-emetic effects, appetite stimulation, and a feeling of well being for many that can be dysphoric for others. Cleocin (clindamycin phosphate) (clindamycin) has no adverse effects that this help. The most obvious is diarrhea caused by its effect on gut flora that can be qute serious.

Does repeated use (4-5x year) of antibiotics (recurrent tooth infection for 5 years) damage one's health or weaken immune system? Clindamycin mostly.

Does repeated use (4-5x year) of antibiotics (recurrent tooth infection for 5 years) damage one's health or weaken immune system? Clindamycin mostly.

Definitive Care: You need definitive dental care. An infection that recurs every three months for the past five years is obviously not going away with just antibiotics. Please see a dentist. Overuse of antibiotics can result in resistant strains and super infections.

Clindamycin side effects last how long?

Sometimes a while: Clindamycin was the first antimicrobial to be linked to pseudo membranous enterocolitis, a potential serious and even life threatening infection due to clostridium difficile. If diarrhea continues especially with a kind of mousy/musty odor, seek medical attention.
