Depends on situation: What is the reason Hydroxyurea is being given? One use of Hydroxyurea is to treat resistant chronic myelocytic leukemia (cml, a cancer of white blood cells). Cancers increase risk of blood clots (dvt), which can be treated w enoxaparin (clexane) in such a case, both would be given. If in hospital, meds like enoxaparin can be used to prevent dvt. Other scenarios exist in which both could be used. ...Read more

Worse, it might break off and lodge in your lung, which can be deadly. Please call your doctor about this. Good luck. ...Read more

Clexane: Clexane (known as Lovenox in the U.S.) is the brand name for enoxaparin. This medication is commonly used during pregnancy. Some doctors will switch back to unfractionated Heparin close to delivery since Heparin has a completely effective antidote, while enoxaparin's antidote is less reliable. Obviously, the OB doesn't want anyone to bleed excessively during delivery. ...Read more

I'm 4 weeks 4 days pregnant. Because of 2 m/c I had the dr. Told me to inject clexane when should I go for an ultrasound to check if the sac is there?
I'm pregnant 19 weeks, taking clexane 20 mg from week 5, now my weight increased 5 kg, now 63kg. Height 165 cm. Need to increase clexane dose to 40mg??
Enoxaparin: The amount of Enoxaprin or Clexane given depends upon the reason it is being used. Generally use during pregnancy is to prevent or treat a DVT. It is dosed by mg/kg and given once or twice per day. However, administration is usually 0.2 or 0.4 mL subcutaneously. Going from 0.2 to 0.4 is doubling the dose. Before doing this speak with your doctor. ...Read more
No: Clexane does not clear existing blood clots, the body does. Clexane prevents new clots from forming. Treatment of blood clots, once they have formed, should be no less than three months. Clexane is often used as an overlap with another blood thinner coumadin (warfarin). Once the Coumadin (warfarin) is working clexane can be stopped. ...Read more
Am taking clexane injection while pregnant and my abdominal area became solid. Is there any other place I can take the injection in?
Clexane = Enoxaparin: Clexane appears to be a brand of Enoxaparin sold outside the States. It is a special form of heparin which is a blood thinner used to prevent blood clots. It's not clear what you mean by "my abdominal area became solid". Just the injection site? Or whole abdomen? Pain? Redness? Regardless, you need to chat w/your high-risk obstetrician (maternal-fetal medicine specialist) regarding this situation. ...Read more

No: There is no need for a cesarean because you had 2 miscarriages. There may be several other reasons to suggest a cesarean (baby's position, baby not tolerating labor, no progress in labor, etc.), but not miscarriages. Question your gyn on why that history should make a difference on the delivery method. ...Read more

Dr im 14 weeks pregnt and taking clexane 20 mg daily on tummy, can I change it from tummy to thighs? Both have same effect or on tummy more effectve??
Clexane is given: Subcutaneously, which requires an area with lots of fatty tissues (more vascularized or access to blood vessels) rather than muscle (less vascularized or access to blood vessels) to be absorbed efficiently into the bloodstream. So it is not recommended to give Clexane (low molecular weight heparin) in the thigh which is much more muscular. The tiny subcutaneous needle should not hurt the baby. ...Read more

Factor V Leiden: Carriers of the Factor V Leiden mutation are at elevated risk of pathologic clotting complications. This is why you are being treated with medication - Enoxaparin. The drug or the Dx?: Wish your mother and yourself the best of health, I didn't get exactly your concern: the diagnosis is complex, and hopefully she'll be cured, the clexane is an anticoagulant (blood thinner) that's given to patients who have had thrombosis or to prevent formation of other ones.
