I have a couple small clear bubbles or blisters on my lips that do not hurt at all. I can't even feel them. Could it be herpes?

Maybe: In general herpes is very painful. However, it varies depending on the stage that you notice them. At the vesicular stage or bubbles, they may not hurt as much but when they turn into blisters, they are very painful as the nerve endings are exposed. If they are already blistering and still non-painful, they are probably not herpes but another infections or condition altogether. ...Read more

A painless blister with clear fluid at one end of upper lip. What could be the problem?

Possibly a mucocele: Clear fluid filled blister may be as insignificant as a plugged or blocked minor salivary duct in the lip or cheek. If the fluid is on the gum however and is adjacent to a tooth with a cloudy discharge that is more likely an infection. I have a blister/bubble on the exterior of my lower lip. There seems to be clear puss inside it. It is painful. I just wish to know what it may be.

Depends: A blister on lip could be just a manifestation of herpes that most people are afflicted with (type 1, not 2 which is genital herpes), unless a burn or other trauma is implicated it is likely a a herpetic lesion with a clear liquid (serum) which will resolve in 1-2 weeks. Without other history or exam nothing more can be said. It is commonly called a "cold sore". If it continues, consult dentist. ...Read more

Small blister appeared on my top outter lip. No tingling no pain. I tried popping it. Small clear fluid came out now it's so swollen. Help.?

Cold sore?: A swelling on the lip with a blister likely is Herpes Simplex Virus type 1 (cold sore or fever blister). If this is a first episode of HSV 1 it can be more severe. Oral antiviral medication (Rx) can help if taken within 72 hours (or later if very severe). In milder cases Zilactin-B (OTC) is very effective for pain (contains Benzocaine). Denver (a topical antiviral) is modestly effective.*See comments ...Read more

I have a bump on the inside of my lower lip. It has a head like a pimple but it looks clear like a blister. It hurts and came from nowhere. What is it?

Herpes Simplex 1: If it is painful, as in stinging, this is likely HSV-1 or herpes type type one. These are often called cold sores and the most common mode of contraction is kissing. They are harmless, but painful and can be associated with acute stress (physical or mental) such as getting the common cold, flu, test taking time, menstruation, pregnancy, etc. If they do not resolve or become more painful discuss ...Read more

Whenever I eat salty foods such as soft pretzels I get a clear blister on the inside of my mouth on my lip. Is that normal?

Always?: Has this always been the case? If so, then I am thinking you are just really sensitive to the salt, or maybe even something else (brewer's yeast, etc) in those foods. It may just be causing irritation to the lining of your lips. If it is always in the same location...or if this is a new thing for you, however, I'd probably get it checked out, just in case. Hope this helps! ...Read more

Recently, I've been experiencing swelling in my salivarygland. I have dry mouth and throat, body ache, and a clear blister on my upper lip. What should I do?

Blocked duct?: A blocked salivary duct will cause the gland to swell since the saliva has no place to go. This would also tend to give you a dry mouth. The gland may swell more when you are about to eat. Please go see your dentist to determine the cause. If the duct is blocked, serious damage to the gland can occur. ...Read more

I woke up this morning with a clear blister on my lip that I didn't have last night. I am 14 weeks pregnant, so not sure how I got it. Maybe a fever? Any idea what it could be from? And what I should do for it?

HSV 1: Blister on the lip suggests previous exposure to the herpes virus that manifests itself for the first time, it seems. Pregnancy is a state of altered immunology, which could have contributed to the herpes flare up. It may be a good idea to do a blood test for HSV 1 and HSV 2. HSV 1 used to cause cold sores (labial herpes) HSV 2 genital herpes, ...Read more

I keep getting clear blister in my mouth. What could it be?

Mucocele possibly: This bump inside of your mouth is probably a mucocele. It is caused when the duct to a minor salivary gland gets clogged or traumatized and the saliva backs up forming a fluid filled bump. They are most common on the lower lip but can occur elsewhere in the mouth as well. Small ones can resolve on their own. Large ones (as shown here) require surgical removal by and oral surgeon. ...Read more
