Claritin Reditabs 12 Hour
I started taking Claritin (loratadine) 12-hour RediTabs today, but the Claritin (loratadine) is not counteracting my allergies. May I take a 1/2 or 1/4 Chlortrimeton tonight?
Take as directed: It is wise to always take medicine as prescribed or as directed on the information that is on the package it came in. As with any medicine, it is potentially harmful to take more than was recommended . If this has happened, you should seek the help of a healthcare provider as soon as possible. ...Read more

Antihistamines: Both medications have antihisstamines. Not sure what you are treating, but if you need both on the same day, then it may be better to see an allergist and get another type of medication to control your symptoms. You should be able to take them together but over time the strategy is not effective. ...Read more
Nothing: The d indicates sudafed which is a stimulant as well as a decongestant and the body has to break it down. Side effects could include insomnia, palpitations, tremor (shakey feeling) or irritability and trouble urinating. Extra claritan which is antihistamine could cause dry mucous membranes- throat, eyes, nose etc. ...Read more
Possibly: If you have allergies, you should really see an allergist for a detailed treatment plan tailored to your needs. Otherwise, otc antihistamines can be tried but Claritin (loratadine) is the weakest antihistamine out there. Try something like fexofenadine or cetirizine, both are stronger though they tend to cost a little more. ...Read more
I accidentally took 2 claritin 10 mg 24 hour pills (took the 2nd about 12 hours later). Is this safe?
Likely: If you do not have any symptoms, you can wait it out and return to your usual schedule for the medication. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex. Get HPV vaccine. ...Read more
I accidentally took two Claritin D about one hour apart. This is the 12-hour formula. Is there a problem with this?
Unlikely: You've had a double dose of the decongestant which can keep you from sleeping well, increase your heart rate and increase your blood pressure. The double dose of Claritin is unlikely to cause you any issues in the next 12 hours. I do not think you need any immediate medical attention unless you develop any concerning symptoms. ...Read more
Loratadine makes me to feel like I didn't even used it while desloratadine makes me to crash after an hour... Is this senstivity normal?
What happens if you accidentally take 2 claritins (loratadine) (10mg each) in 24 hours when you're supposed to only take one ? Anything serious would happen ?
Extra Claritin (loratadine): If you are in generally good health with normal kidney and liver function, and you are not taking other sedating medications, there are not likely to be serious consequences. The worst you might experience would be excessive drowsiness, sedation, etc so don't drive for 24 hours. Also do not consume alcohol or take other medications that are CNS depressants for 48 hours. ...Read more

I took two OTC loratadine 3 hours apart this morning. Should I be concerned? 5'5" 125lbs - 50 yrs. Thank you
Not good: Claritin, (loratadine) i believe, is either 1 or 2 per 24 hours. 5 obviously exceeds that. I don't think that you will overdose on 5 claritin (loratadine), (loratadine) but you may need to keep better track of how you are taking otc meds. Some meds can be complimentary and can be used together, such as Nasalcrom spray and claritin (loratadine). It would be good to see an allergist for treatment options if your allergies are severe. ...Read more
Maybe ok, but...: Claritin is a once a day antihistamine, but some forms of it are every-12-hours. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is an every-6-hours antihistamine, but some forms are every-12-hours. If one takes a normal dose of Claritin and then a normal dose of benadryl (diphenhydramine), (diphenhydramine) it's unproven that there will be any extra benefit, but the person will be drowsy from the benadryl (diphenhydramine). They are mild-mannered meds, so a bad reaction isn't expected. ...Read more
