Claritin Hives Relief
3 days to reach peak: Claritin (loratadine) (loratidine) takes 3 days to reach a steady state, so it could take that long for it to work on hives. Other non-drowsy antihistamines are a better choice: Allegra (fexofenadine) reaches peak effect within 2 hours and Zyrtec (cetirizine) reaches peak effect in 1-2 hours. If you see no benefit at all within 5 hours of taking these, they probably will not work for you. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Took 50mg loratadine/day for hives. Stopped because of suicidal thoughts (read this is a rare symtom) now i'm in a 4-day-long anxiety attack.Thoughts?

I have hives caused by antibiotics. Benadryll not tolerated during the day. I was told by walk in to take tagament and claritin (loratadine). Why the tagament?
True allergy to benadryl (diphenhydramine). Can i take claritin? Are they different enough that it shouldn't give me the instant hives that Benadryl (diphenhydramine) does?
Will Claritin (loratadine) protect against drug allergies for a full 24hrs? Is it safe to use it if i've had hives from other, unrelated antihistamine pills?
