Depends: Which is better, chocolate ice cream or vanilla. Taste is very subjective. Most people will prefer the GoLytely (polyethylene glycol) initially but start to dislike it long before the gallon is gone. Magnesium citrate is worse intially but there is much less of it. Not enough info: Sounds like you are being cleaned out and may need colonoscopy if you do not resolve the partial obstruction you describe. If your doctor knows your diagnosis she needs to explain it to you and answer your questions. If you are uncomfortable get a second opinion. It sounds excessive but I would ask the doctor why so much. Do you have a history of laxative abuse? Hope you feel better soon. ...Read more

Just mag citrate: You can have just magnesium citrate. Why are you having bowel prep. Discuss with your physician if mag citrate is a substitute that is satisfactory alternative.
