Citalopram Vs Wellbutrin
I have been on citalopram 40 mg daily for two years. I am now prescribed Wellbutrin (bupropion) 150mg daily as an add on. How long will it take to see improvement?
Ask your provider: Always discuss this sort of thing w/ your provider. When a medication is prescribed - have a list of standard and additional particular questions. This is one to always ask - "How long should I expect to wait to see results?" Others are about what to look for positively and side effects to report. Withdrawal issues, things to avoid, things to do, etc. This makes you a wise consumer! Best wishes! ...Read more

Can i retake citalopram if im having bad wellbutrin (bupropion) withdrawal? Was on citalopram before wellbutrin (bupropion)
Wellbutrinwithdrawal: I feel empathy for your symptoms of withdrawal and your desire to have relief. Do not be desperate; withdrawal symptoms will be less intense in next few days. Citalopram is for Depression. It is likely that you stopped Citalopram as it did not help. See Psychiatrist immediately for Diagnosis, monitoring of withdrawal symptoms; discuss gradual withdrawal; other medications, and Intensive Therapy ...Read more

I am on a high dose of citalopram 80mg for OCD, seen improvement in OCD not depression. Would adding Wellbutrin (bupropion) help?
Feeling brain fog and derealization, dizzy, stopped wellbutrin (bupropion) two weeks ago. Took for anxiety, took citalopram before, can i take citalopram again?
Citalopram is a good: choice for anxiety disorder. If you responded and tolerated it before you may experience the same. Discuss with prescriber to review past and current symptoms and med experience. Employ anxiety management strategies, reduce stress, develop relaxation/self-calming measures. Depends.: First, each person is different and one might be better for one person and not another. Second, Celexa (citalopram) is a brand name and bupropion a generic. In general Wellbutrin is more effective for depression than Celexa (citalopram), but it has no tranquilizer effect which Celexa (citalopram) does. Some generic bupropion is not as effective as another. ...Read more

Combination of meds: Yes, they can. However, it's best to reduce the dose of citalopram to 20mg. citalopram and wellbutrin (bupropion) are in different classes thus they have different mechanisms of action. You can liken it to cream AND sugar in your coffee. ok with one or the other but maybe better with both. I do not recommend taking Phentermine under any circumstances. pls make sure to discuss all of this with your provider. ...Read more

Get discounted meds!: Bottom line, try to get back on the generic versions of those meds & seek psychiatric advice through a free/little cost county medical clinic. Best discounted med service we have found for our patients is rx outreach. They provide 90 or 180 day supplies of many generics at good prices. Best of luck :) http://www.Rxoutreach.Org/. ...Read more

I'm taking 20mg of citalopram once a day and bupropion sr 150mg once every morning, is it ok to cold turkey these drugs n if not how?
Cital no, buprop yes: Stopping either or both of these should be done in consultation with your prescribing doctor. There may be less drastic dose adjustments and alternative treatments to consider, etc. However, to answer your question, bupropion usually can be stopped cold turkey, while citalopram is best decreased gradually to avoid discontinuation (withdrawal) syndrome. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Tried celexa, made anxiety worse, sister tried it, same reaction. She had success w/ wellbutrin (bupropion) said it works differently, could this help me?
NO: Usually people with anxiety D/O's are more sensitive to side effects. Antidepressants that modulate anxiety (Wellbutrin (bupropion) is not one of them) need to be started and up titration at much smaller dosages. I.e. Citalopram 50mg and in some people 2mg, then gradually medicine is tolerated better. Good luck and feel better. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
