I haven't taken my medication, citalopram for about a week or longer. What would my side effects be?
Am I taking too many medications: citalopram 20mg, pregabalin 300mg, propranolon 10 mg at same time...?
Probably not: The dosages of citalopram & propranolol are at low end, assuming just once per day. Pregabelin at 2/3 max dosage. But if combo cause3s you discomfort or interferes with your life the dosages don't matter; discuss the problems with your doctor (s) & ask for other options. If the meds are for anxiety, a re-evaluation of the citalopram dose is a beginning. ...Read more

Not a good idea but: Drinking alcohol while taking Celexa (citalopram) can increase the side effects of Celexa (citalopram) and vice versa. But if you drink, drink only small or moderate amont. That is 1drink a day for women and two drinks a day for men, and be careful as to side effects. You should not take MAO inhibiters, ectasy street drug, other ssris, st john warts, other sedatives and sleeping pills if approved by your doctor with care. Ask ur md. ...Read more

I want to go on an ayahuasca retreat but I am on 40 mg of citalopram a day. How long do I have to stop the medication before I can interact with it?
At least 2 weeks:
Ayahuasca can have very profound psychospiritual benefits & can help some people to overcome depression. However, as a MAO inhibitor it can have serious interactions with many drugs & one must also avoid many foods before using. Combining ayahuasca with citalopram can cause serotonin syndrome. Experts advise stopping citalopram for at least 2 weeks prior.

Depends: All ssri's, including citalopram (celexa), have subtle effects on cognitive function that a person may or may not notice. They reduce obsessive thinking, for example, and they also seem to reduce emotional sensitivity to some extent. I put aside both Citalopram and Propranolol for 4 days but I had an evil days. My vision changed and I had nausea. How can I come off those medication?
Best way w/ Doc help: It's generally much better to wean these types of medication w/ medical supervision. But, it's not a perfect world. So, do it slowly and taper the Propranolol 1st. Cut mg dosage each 14days by the same step-down amount (i.e., 25%) until gone. If it's too fast, return to last week's dose and move on again. Only then, do the same w/ the SSRI. It will take time, but you'll be safe (and free!) Best. ...Read more
