This is unusual: Leah, you really need to see a clinician both to get relief from the symptoms and find the cause. You can take over the counter antihistamines like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) for the itching, but the soreness is strange and could mean it is something more than just an allergy. Mgt suggestions: From your description, the area on the side of the neck may be an insect bite, and the total body rash part of an allergic reaction.Exam the neck area for any bite marks, stingers. I would suggest not attempting to remove the stinger. Applying Hydrocortisone and Calamine in combination with an antihistamine may provide relief. See doctor: It is hard to tell what may be causing it without a direct exam. Nonetheless you may try taking antihistamines to see if they help. A dermatology consult may be required if antihistamine does not help or the problem is getting worse.
