Is playing video games all day unhealthy?

Is playing video games all day unhealthy?

Yes: One would hope for a more-than-cyber experience of life -- allowing real-time relationships with actual people, with all their challenges and rewards. Playing video games all day leaves no room for this, or for interests outside of video games. One's awareness would be extremely narrow. Also, unless you land a job as a tester of video games, it's hard to imagine earning a living that way. ...Read more

My 12 yr. Old son falls asleep doing schoolwork, homework, and chores; but is alert when watching t.V. Or playing video games, is this adhd?

My 12 yr. Old son falls asleep doing schoolwork, homework, and chores; but is alert when watching t.V. Or playing video games, is this adhd?

Maybe: Tv and video games are geared for a 4 second attention span. Most 2 year olds have longer attention spans than that. The 4 second attention span keeps your son alert via a neural reflex. It also lowers his attention span for the real world. Research states of those who watch 1 hour a day 9% will lower their attention span to add levels. 2 hours lowers 18% and 3 hrs 27%. Limit both to 45 min/day. ...Read more

Hi,
can brain training web games (eg lumosity.Com) be harmful to kids above 3 years? Kids seem to love playing it - but is there any side-effect?

Above three?: Do you mean above or below the age of three? Recent studies suggest that children under the age of two, really do not benefit from any video electronics. They can be too overstimulating. All children's tv programming should be limited to no more than one hour per day. I do not believe in having a tv in a child's room. You are not doing your kids a favor by exposing them too early to media. ...Read more

How could ergonomics and requirements for rest periods during working time impact on productivity.?

Is there an addiction or disorder for people who watch anime excessively or play video games frequently? Watching free stream anime online 6-12 hours every day even digging into hentai for the absence of intimacy. And online using video games for social n

Yes: Online addictions, whether for action games, online porn, chatrooms or many other activities can be serious and damaging to quality of life. Many addiction programs have now started special programs for those with these kinds of problems (called 'process' addictions). They sometimes reflect another underlying psychiatric problem, sometimes not. See an addiction specialist (aaap.Org or asam.Org). ...Read more

Diastasis rectus from pregnancy (10 months p.partum) is it worth spending time on planking and other core exercises? Will they help with core at all?

Exercise may help: Abdominal and core exercises may help to strenghten the abdominal muscles and as a result may improve diastasis recti. This is not an hernia as there is no defect in the rectus fascia, hence there is no risk of bowel herniation or strangulation. If it persists despite exercises and interferes with your daily activities then you may consider surgical plication of the rectus muscles to each other. ...Read more
