Tobradex (tobramycin and dexamethasone) Ophthalmic Ointment given for eye rednes, swelling, oozing yellow,drynes-no bacterial infection found in skin scraping-why then give antibiotic?

Culture ?: Tobradex (tobramycin and dexamethasone) is a good treatment for severe redness caused by bacterial conjunctivitis, especially those caused by gram negative bacteria. If an eye scraping is done with culture and no bacteria are cultured, the irritation may be due to viral or allergic issues, that could be complicated by bacterial superinfection. Tobradex (tobramycin and dexamethasone) is a good 1st line, followed by specific therapy based on sensitivities ...Read more

Does allergic conjunctivitis respond to the eye drops for bacterial conjunctivitis? And vice versa does bacterial respond to antihistamine drops?

Does allergic conjunctivitis respond to the eye drops for bacterial conjunctivitis? And vice versa does bacterial respond to antihistamine drops?

Generally no. : If it is a bacterial infection, it should only respond to antibiotics much like allergic conjunctivitis should only respond to only allergy drop like antihistamine/and or mast cell stabilizer drop. However some infections can cause itchiness in which case an allergy drop is added in addition to an antibiotic drop. How common is bacterial infection in anti tnf medication treatment?

Do you use Cefazedone (first-generation cephaloporins) or Amikacin (Aminoglycosides antibiotic) for treating pelvic inflammatory disease?

Not usually: I'm not sure where you are, but in most of the world's countries these drugs are not recommended and would not be used to treat PID. They are of uncertain activity against gonorrhea and definitely will not treat chlamydia. Try to find an infectious diseases or STD expert to advise on treatment. Does Maxitrol (dexamethasone neomycin and polymyxin) cause dry eyes, and fatigue? Prescribed for blepharitis caused infection.

Not usually: Maxitrol (dexamethasone neomycin and polymyxin), (dexamethasone neomycin and polymyxin) in the normally prescribed pattern of dosage, can be an effective treatment for eye infection. It can assist with blepharitis but that requires hygiene of the lids more than an antibiotic. There is no chance that Maxitrol (dexamethasone neomycin and polymyxin) will cause eye dryness, unless you develop an allergy to it. Fatigue is almost certainly from another cause. ...Read more
