Allergic: The older acid blockers sometimes work better on eosinophilic esophagitis or food allergies. They have antihistamine properties that are not present in the newer proton pump inhibitors. If you have an ongoing stomach pain then see a gastroenterologist for evaluation. ...Read more

Probably okay: The original tagamet (cimetidine) was 150 mg the 300 is a double strength. Its best to ask your physician who prescribed it but if this is simply for acid reflux or occasional gastritis its probably safe. ...Read more

Before tagamet (cimetidine) persons on occasion had to have part of their stomach surgically removed to treat ulcers. Tagamet (cimetidine) significantly reduced stomach acid production allowing the ulcer to heal. I bought a pack of cimetidine tablets and noticed they smell bad, like rotten eggs. Is this normal or are they off? Exp date is 8/2015.

Very inexpensive.: May be a bad lot, or byproduct in manufacuring. Still should be good, but you can complain to your pharmacist and might get new product. But first ask them if they smell like that. Generic american product does not have this and is available over the counter without a prescription needed! ...Read more
