What value is movie rating system if our church disagrees?

Movie rating: This is a clear separation of state and church. Movie ratings are the state and the church teaching are the religion. Typically the state tends to be ultra open and the church teaches based on belief and faith in good. Nothing wrong with the latter. It all depends on which of the two provides better satisfaction to you. ...Read more

Is it important for adults to chaperone HS kids even on a church outing?

Kids are kids: It's always important to remember that kids are going to be kids, church or no. As a pediatrician, i very definitely know that church going kids are only a little bit less likely to engage in inappropriate behavior and sexual activity. There should always be proper adult supervision and monitoring of behavior on outings. You don't need to have "room for the holy ghost" but look for normal behavior. ...Read more

Fasting: First there has to be more to this story. I know of no medical professional that would bless you with recommending a fast lasting 45 days. Fasting, in my book, means avoiding any food or liquids. Fasting for 45 days seems very dangerous to one's health. Even jesus christ did not fast this long. ...Read more

If one's weight creeps upward, then cut back on the calories right away. ...Read more

Does going to church change people or do people change people? Does me not going to church make me a bad person even though i believe in god?

Not a medical ? but: This is not a "medical question" with an objective answer, though research does suggest that those who are spiritual and feel a connection with god do have better health. I believe a connection with spirituality is essential for optimal health. But i also believe going to church has little to do with one's spiritual beliefs and not going to church does not make one a bad person at all! ...Read more

Why does my son limp after church after sitting on the wooden benches?

Why does my son limp after church after sitting on the wooden benches?

Nerve compression: Must be a long church service! i wouldn't worry too much so long as he can "work it out" fairly quickly with walking around. If it persists, why don't you get him checked out by your doc? He can ask you some relevant questions, and examine him to make sure there's no medical reason for it. ...Read more
