My son has a chronic cough and we have been told he has reactive airways. How can we be sure it is not something else?

Multiple causes: Multiple causes are definitely possible. If there is reflux and aspiration into the lung, this may cause or contribute to reactivity of the airway. Infections, cold air, exercise and allergen exposure may also trigger reactivity of the airway. Your doctor may determine that additional testing or treatment is necessary. A TB test may be performed at your physician's office to rule out TB infection. ...Read more

I'm worried about cancer. Specifically throat cancer. I don't smoke and doc says throat looks find but cough sometimes and chronic clear throat?

Not cancer: Other than for malignant tumors of minor salivary glands within oral cavity, almost all malignancies are squamous cell in origin. Cough is not one of the complaints. Rather it is an ulcerating lesion that does not heal and may bleed with eventual spread to cervical nodes. Most cancers are from combo smoking and drinking however oral exposure to HPV may induce development of a malignant lesion. ...Read more

Chronic sore throet also a cough and hicups with a burp 5+ weeks sore throat reflux if not reflux what could it be not diagnosed?

Sounds like reflux: Putting all the signs together, your throat irritation results from the reflux acid coming up the esophagus and causing painful symptoms.
