"itis"=inflammation: "cystitis" means that you have inflammation or an infection in the bladder. Most commonly it will be because of a bacterial infection. You can soldo have a fungal (yeast) or viral infection; or you could just have inflammation (eg secondary to radiation therapy or overuse).
