VIPoma: This is complicated. You may not have the satisfaction of "a diagnosis" until your doctors have found a tumor, removed it and the symptoms have resolved. As I mentioned to you before, you should be seeing someone who specializes in these kinds of tumors. Good luck. ...Read more

L endoscopic hernia repair. Pmh: mild l cerebral palsy. I had l spasms coming out of anesthesia. S/p 1 mo. I have a painful large 3rd testicle?

PostOp Seroma: It is very common for fluid to accumulate where the old hernia was immediately after surgery. It can feel just like a hernia but will not "yo-yo" in and out. Best option would be to see your surgeon in-person so they can examine you & reassure you that all is well. ...Read more

Went to endocrinologist they said I have high chromogranin. What does this mean?

Chromogranin A: Chromogranin a (cga) is a protein made by certain cells scattered throughout many tissues in the body. These cells are called neuro-endocrine cells, because they behave somewhat like nerve cells, and somewhat like endocrine, or glandular cells. They produce a variety of hormone and Amino Acid derivatives, and can form tumors. High cga levels mean a person might have such a tumor, but isn't certain. ...Read more

Is it possible to have false positives for chromogranin A , vasoactive instestional peptides, 5-hiaa? All these test have been high than others normal

No test is perfect: Hi. In medicine, we rely heavily on objective data, but no test is perfect. The fact that your Cg A, VIP, and 5-HIAA are ALL high lends credence to the hypothesis you have a neuroendocrine tumor in the carcinoid/VIPoma category. I trust you are being seen by a physician experienced in endocrine tumor syndromes, or will soon be referred to one. Mayo Clinic is great for that. Others too. Good luck! ...Read more
