Daughter is 12 weeks old. Have got cold and cough. Doctor has given phenylephrine hydrochloride chlorpheniramine maleate drops. Is this preferable?

No: These medications in a 12 week old can cause more problems than they solve. Studies clearly show no benefit of these medications for infants with colds, and the medications can cause problems with heart rate, poor feeding, irritability among other symptoms. Use a humidifier, nasal saline with bulb syringe to clear secretions and do small but frequent feedings. Monitor wet diapers and temperature. ...Read more

After my flu vaccine, I have this terrible flu and I took a flu pills called chlorpheniramine. Does that cause any side effect? Or any bad effect?

After my flu vaccine, I have this terrible flu and I took a flu pills called chlorpheniramine. Does that cause any side effect? Or any bad effect?

Probably not flu: If you're in the U.S., it's probably not flu. Flu vaccine can't give the flu, and there's very little flu in the U.S. Right now. Flu shots are given during cold season, so it's common to get a cold after you get the flu shot, just by coincidence. Chlorpheniramine is a an antihistamine used to treat allergies. It won't do much for a cold or a flu, other than to make you sleepy. Try a decongestant. ...Read more

Please tell any over-the-counter syrup available for kids having pseudoephedrine hydrochloride, chlorphenamine maleate, acetaminophen?

Please tell any over-the-counter syrup available for kids having pseudoephedrine hydrochloride, chlorphenamine maleate, acetaminophen?

I do not think so: If you are asking for a single medication that is available otc with all 3 ingredients, I am not aware of any.

You can find some that have the Pseudoephedrine and the chlorpheniramine but not the acetaminophen.

I believe advil (ibuprofen) allergy sinus is close having Ibuprofen instead of the Acetaminophen in pill form.

That said, cold medications are not recommended for children less than 4 years of age. ...Read more
