Chlordiazepoxide And Clidinium Side Effects
I have librax (chlordiazepoxide and clidinium), it expired 7 months ago, could I still take 1? im having horrible cramps and have nothing else to help
Such dates don't: Really mean anything. The vast majority of drugs, just like the vast majority of foods, last much longer than the usually totally arbitrary dates placed on the bottles or boxes of meds. Particularly if they are kept near room temperature and in a dry place. However, if you have IBS and it is getting worse, you need to see your doctor asap to see what has changed. One Librax (clinidium and chlordiazepoxide) won't likely hurt/help. ...Read more
Dear Sir, Please let me know the difference between Librax (Chlordiazepoxide + Clidinium bromide) and Levosulpiride Can I use them both or should I?
Librax is a combo of: A benzodiazepine (chlordiazepoxide) and an antispasmodic (Clidinium bromide). Levosulpiride (not approved in the US) is an antipsychotic medication. Both may treat irritable bowel syndrome. The latter would have more significant risks. It is best to review with your prescriber for treatment appropriate to your situation. Best regards. ...Read more

Usually tolerated: Drowsiness is the most common side effect. Depending on dose, incoordination, confusion, rash, dizziness, constipation and fatigue may occur. There are rare, more serious side effects too. It's usually used for acute alcohol withdrawal and has a long and successful track record for preventing the serious side effects of that condition. Like all meds, it should be used in the lowest effective dose. ...Read more

Stopped Librax (clinidium and chlordiazepoxide) after 1 week on Dr's prescription for IBS but now feel depressed all the time, lost appetite, is it due to side effects of librax (clinidium and chlordiazepoxide)?
Yes,: Librax (clinidium and chlordiazepoxide) contains a benzodiazepine, which is addicting. Stopping it will give you withdrawal symptoms. Your depressed feelings are due to withdrawal & not to clinical depression. Stay off it & you'll get better! Exercise & eat right (lots of fruits and veggies). Both help withdrawal as well as IBS. You may do even better off Librax (clinidium and chlordiazepoxide), with higher fiber in your diet. Take it slow though use Gas-x prn. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Why is my stomach hurting like contraction in middle of my stomach and on the sides I get sharp pains! My dr said intestenal spasms? Librax (clinidium and chlordiazepoxide) did not work
Spasms: First off, tell your doctor the Librax (clinidium and chlordiazepoxide) failed. Communication is very important in medicine. Next, there are a lot of unknowns. Blood in stool? Black stools? Consistency of stools. The number of stools a day? Testing done to confirm spastic colon. Most likely irritable bowell syndrome mixed. Meaning have loose stools to constipation. However, check back with your doc and get reevaluated. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have had a sore throat for a month now and it won't go away. It is on one side and my equal Librium has been off as well. It isn't allergies?
Possible, unlikely: Benzodiazepines have very little lethal potential, particularly in healthy people. Large doses will cause people to sleep for prolonged periods of time, but do not depress respiration or gag reflex. In elderly or debilitated people, in those with severe lung or liver disease, and when combined with other CNS depressants (like alcohol, opiates) they can and do cause respiratory depression/death. ...Read more

An irrational drug: If this drug were to seek approval today, it would be refused. Combinations of antispasmodic drugs with tranquilizers and sedatives (including barbiturates) were very popular in the 60s and 70s. They are used mostly to treat irritable bowel syndrome. The best treatment starts with more fiber in diet, and then antispasmodic drugs. Tranquillizers are rarely indicated, and can cause dependency. ...Read more
