Test is reliable: The manufacturer of the most common chlamydia tests recommend waiting 1-2 hour since previous urination, but probably it isn't necessary. Despite the official recommendation, clinical experience suggests it doesn't make a difference. In my STD clinic, we pay no attention to time since last voiding. Good if done right: It's a good test if done right. Unlike urine samples for bacterial infection, this test should be done on the first urine to leave the bladder (not a 'clean catch'). If there are symptoms of vaginal/uterine infection, then further testing would be warranted. ...Read more
