Depends on cause: If one is a healthcare worker, she can wear a mask and wash hands often (or use the sanitizing gel/foam). If in sales or marketing, a mask would scare off people, so hand sanitizer is the best one can do. If working in dusty situations where the dust/smoke/irritants in the air make one more prone to catching other respiratory infections, then wearing a mask helps also.
