Do you know of any types of parents (race, nationality, medical history, diet, etc.) who never or almost never have autistic children?

Do you know of any types of parents (race, nationality, medical history, diet, etc.) who never or almost never have autistic children?

No: Studies have shown that autism cuts across race, socio-econimc status, nationality, and most other measures. There is a clear genetic contribution, so those with a history of having had an autistic child are at increased risk. ...Read more

Autism (Definition)

Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder affecting three areas: abnormal socialization, communication, and restricted interests with repetitive patterns of behavior. It is usually detected in the first two years of life. Cause is unknown but strong evidence points to an interplay between genetic and environmental factors. How many parents try a gluten free and casein free diet for children with autism?

TOO many: Sadly autism is complicated, not terribly well understood yet-though quite a bit better. And there are too many false hopes that go viral. Did you hear about autism parents flocking to colorado for cannibis oil to treat their children having seziures?

Although studies on : efficacy & safety have barely begun, parents of children with intractable epilepsy, with or without Autism, have purchased CBD oil in Colorado. Since medical marijuana is now legal in Nevada, affected families don't have to leave home. Can you tell me how i can tell my parents that i think I have autism?

Can you tell me how i can tell my parents that i think I have autism?

Oppurtunity to help: I generally ask some of the screening questions. When they agree to these I let them know that I think we have found an opportunity to help. I point out first that starting help soon we give the child a better chance of learning to be social and to do great in relationships and/or school... I refer them and suggest school help. If disbelief I show criteria met by their admission. ...Read more

A 4-month-should goo and coo " in sync" with mom, a 6-month-old should raise his arms to be picked up, a 9-month old should respond to his name. The diagnosis includes much more, but these are things parents can notice early. Firstsigns.Org has good checklists for parents. Check it out! ...Read more

Hi can anyone please tell me what happens at feedback appointment /outcome with autism intervention team for child , parent appointment only thankyou ?

Parents become not : only integral members of the intervention team, they inform the team of family priorities, strengths & needs. The professionals explain the child's measured cognitive, adaptive & motor levels & the measured degree of Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Then, the entire team creates an individualized treatment plan with outcome measures. See: https://www.autismspeaks.org/site-wide/uk ...Read more
